4.10's arent ideal for 33's, i run 33's/4.56 and some run 4.88. but 4.10 is still better than 3.55/3.07, and can be had on a budget, without having a gear guy do any work.
in that case, try to find an oem 30 from a 4liter xj, with 4.10's!

Heh,.. I didn't find a Dana 30 with factory 4.10's because I'm supposed to be leaving for Moab Utah in a week, and that doesn't leave me enough time to install a Ford 8.8 out back lol.

Come to think of it your totally right, 4.10 will probably be a little too high still - especially since my final tire size will be 35's - my current 6.5 inch longarm lift, and trimmed fenders will clear them. My plan is to wear these tires out, then replace the rear axle, regear the front axle, and replace the tires with 35's. But! I want to wait for the wheeling season to be over first.

I really haven't researched this project very much yet, any advice is very much appreciated

I have setup gears before in some advanced autoshop classes I took,.. and would rather spend my money on the proper tools then the labor for someone else to do it, so I expect there to be some downtime while I read directions, learn what I'm doing, then check, and recheck my work to ensure I did everything properly.

One final pic for this project - after all that I braced it ontop like this,.. Ignore the cruddy welds,.. I'm not really good enough to weld upside down and in those small areas while still making it look good - it looks terrible, but I got plenty of penetration.

My Dana 30 is just stock for now. I'm on 33's,.. and I want to Re-gear, but I still have the Dana 35 out back, and I don't think re-gearing it would be a wise use of my money. I will be going to a Ford 8.8 out back at some point, and that already comes with 4.10's, so my plan is to go to 4.10's in the front at the same time.

I only asked cause thats alot for a stock dana 30... at least where I come from it is. Here it would cost $85 at a junkyard

Humph - that's CA for you - it was a you pull it junkyard too - others wanted far more.

I lived on 27th street and Northern in Phoenix for 7 years, I found the prices in the junkyards down on Broadway to be far more reasonable.
