Bent Axle housing repair?!

looking good! If i find a good deal on one I just might

If you do go through with this and decide to use heat, you're going to strip the axle down to the housing so you don't fry the inner seals, right?

If you don't plan on going over 37s I wouldn't worry about it.

Just build a 44 already. I've got a little more than 800 in mine. I still need to buy chromo shafts and super joints...

If you can swing it the RCV shafts are bulletproof. I watched a 44 with RCV's take more abuse than I thought was possible with 37's on it and it wasn't even a big deal.

:new: I bought a D30 housing that already had a T and J gusset kit, currie miniskids for $50. The tubes look straight but the inner C's look a little off to me. What do you guys think? They guy said they weren't bent but idk. Also, was the T&J gusset kit put on correctly? It looks a lil off as well :dunno:

personally, i would run the long leg of the inner-c gusset the opposite way.... but thats the problem with $50 parts. if it runs right, and isnt bent, you got a good deal. FINISH TRUSSING IT THOUGH! NOW. do not launch it like that!

have you considered having it sandblasted? looks like you got some serious surface rust going on

Ya that's exactly what I was thinking. Im not going to throw it under the jeep yet lol. Im gathering WJ brake parts and am getting all the rust off. I do have a abrasive blaster but I want to get most of it off with a 3M sanding wheel for rust. Then Ill use the blaster for the hard to reach spots. I'm thinking about sleeving the tubes with DOM tubing and putting more gussets and trusses on. I like ballistic fabs D30 truss but it looks like I'd have to remove my UCA mount? I also don't want to wait two months to get my parts. Then I'll Powder coat it when I'm all finished. I just didn't want to start doing all of that work and have the inner C's bent. This is what it looked like an hour before lol

the ballistic kit is nice, but as you said, gotta hack off the UCA mount's. its kinda cheap too... untill you factor in upper joints.

sure is nice though! maybe call em, "seriously, i mean seriously. SERIOUSLY, got any d30 truss' in stock?" =)
