Been workin on the Heep!!

Ira, I counted like 12 exclamation marks in that last response......

Yeah, that would be all the frustration over my Jeep and my divorce getting the best of me....I will be fine once this is all over!

How did you end up doing the extra parts on the bds skid? How does 7am sound for Wednesday morning? Meet up at walmart in Canon.

Sounds like a plan!! See ya there unless something goes wrong, like TW's sending wrong shaft.

For those of you wanting to see what I did, pics will be posted after the Holy Cross run tomorrow. bout time...........although you haven't actually posted pics yet :shhh:

Random question, you are running a np242 and a truetrac in the front D30...................is this your daily driver? .....if so doesn't that Trutrac effect your driving/steering?

I did post a few pics at the beginning of this thread.......yeah I know they really do not count;) more to come.

Yes, it is a daily driver. Yes, 242 & Trutrac. No, cannot even tell it is there!

Trutrac is goin away soon, have a Super 30 goin in!! The Trutrac works good but it lacks in extreme situations. Will be sellin my LP 30 Trutrac/4.88 in the near future.

I am just thinking how much of a pain it would be to drive with a truetrac in the front when you can not disconnect the axle. I had one in my CJ and in the winter when I drove in 4wd on the street in the slippery roads I could feel it bind up a little bit trying to turn, I figured out to drive it with one hub unlocked.

I know what you are talking about, off-road I found you had to use the brake a little to get the truetrac to split the torque to the other wheel, and with a stick you were doing the three foot boogie all the time to get it to work right.

Sveeeeeeet looking XJ! :yelclap:

.......I can't believe you stuck a 35" on the factory rack and held it down with tie downs? :wierd: :exclamati:exclamati

The Trutrac works good BUT there were a few situations it just would not cut the mustard, even using the brake did not help.

Thanks!! I have been pouring money and love into the Heep!!!

That 35" is heavy to say the least!!

Damn I thought my 31 on the roof was bad! Other than That SWEET Rig!

I noticed in the pics, that you trimmed the front wells. I found some door trim molding at Wally's (wallfart), and seems to work pretty well, if you dont mind the break in the pieces. A package of 2, to equal roughly 3 1/2 feet, just enough for a front fender.
They have black and/or chrome, for $2.66. I put them on, and the cuts matched up pretty close. You only notice the breaks when you are right up on them. With the glue already in the trim it makes it easier to work with.
Thought I'd throw that out incase you wanted to address that on the "Heep"
How do you like running the 35's?
I have 4.5 RE and 32's, but would like to go higher, mainly for looks, but for function too. I do have 4.10's and LS's in both.

Had that trim stuff on there at one time, got torn off on Chinamans Gulch. I like runnin 35's may go to 37's after I get the cromolys and ARB in the 30. The 35's do very well concidering I am stock axles in the 30 right now!!
