My Dad just got his Jeep back from getting a new rear axle and lockers front and rear so he was itchin to try it out. We decided to check out Barrett Lake as we had never been. The trail was a lot of fun - not too long and not too easy.

There was one other group when we got there and a few Backpackers came in Saturday afternoon. They apparently were prepared for the distance, heat, or both and we gave them about 2 gallons of water by the time we left Sunday morning!

Fishing was great! Nearly every cast ended up with a hit or hook-up and those big (for a high sierra lake) old brookies could fight!

I'm planning on heading up this Friday with another buddy. Any recommendations for camping spots (we'll probably get in late Friday)?
And what tackle and bait or lures did you use?

There seems to be only a handful of spots right along the lake and maybe one or two further around if you want to carry your tent/gear.

Only thing I tried was 1/8 and 1/4 ounce Silver/Blue kastmasters on 4lb mono.

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the invite, rumor has it some guys are doing Fordyce as well this weekend, but I'll be fixing the XJ's little "issues" from this past weekends adventure on the Rubicon.
I've discovered that I have a leak on the vacuum piece on the transfer case as well as the rear diff leaking. I'm also swapping in a ZJ tie-rod as I've bent 3 stock ones and it's getting old replacing them. And there's also the rear drivers side glass that shattered.
