Balls a Rolling!

When do we start on Friday ?

i hoping to make this one...

Should be a good time, sorry I won't be in town to make it.

Opie you know you can always borrow my Jeep and my dog as long as you don't let the dog run loose around the lake.

...as long as you don't let the dog drive...

Slightly confused... it appears you guys are running Swamp Lake on Friday and Saturday? So pretty much everyone has to get there friday morning or we can't run it? Not sure if I can get the time off,but I'll try if that's the case. otherwise I'd come up mid-to late friday.

Tenny, I still have to coordinate with Richard (Goatman) about when he is heading up. Somebody (probably me) will lead a late group into Swamp.

I am going to try and make it. Jeep is currently having the roll cage done on it. If it's done I will be there.....

I dont know how Rockey would stay in your jeep?

I dont know how I'd get a jeep with no tail lights to Shaver Lake - and if I tow an emptry trailer down from WA, I'd be inclined to tow a full trailer and just steal your paid registration / license plates!

I wish I could make it, but we'll be out of town too!

Swamp can be run in one day. If you were to drive in early Saturday morning you could meet up with the group on their way out. A fast moving rig can make it to Grouse lake in about 3 hours.

It seems a little odd, but as Sierrafest is more than just a weekend event, something has to be run during the week. Catching up late Friday or early Sunday is pretty easy to do. Last time I did Swamp, I started at 9PM and Got to swamp at 2:30AM. I'm not sure what took so long as I didn't have to wait for anyone and there was no one on the trail. Though I did have to get out a lot to see what was in the shadows or which way the trail went.

We have traditionally done this run a couple of different ways. One way is to leave base camp at Dinkey Creek Fri morning (usually at 8:30) and drive half the trail to Grouse Lake, and camp there both Fri and Sat night. Drive out the rest of the trail on Sunday. Total trail is about 14 miles. Nearly everyone gets to base camp sometime Thurs evening. When we've done this sometimes a smaller group has come in Sat morning, and sometimes a couple come in late Fri night.

The other way we've done it is to camp just one night on the trail at Grouse Lake, and drive out on Sat back to base camp for Sat night. Then we run Bald Mtn trail on Sun. This is how it's going to be done this year. So, the normal schedule would be to drive up sometime Thurs to base camp at Dinkey, camp there Thurs night, Fri night camp on the trail at the lake, and Sat night camp back at base camp.

Running Bald Mtn trail on Sunday is about half a day, so plenty of time for anyone to still drive home. Can easily be shorter than driving out from Grouse Lake on Sunday.

I've been on this run every year for 12+ years. It's always worth making.

See you there,
