Bagwell's Used Cars/Ed's bad day

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)

Andy, first off I'd like to appologize for hijacking your thread. Alpha, can you split it into 2 different subjects?

My wife and children were hit head on by a Ford work van. I saw the Dodge today and it is totaled. Everyone is fine but will require time to heal.

Thank you for all the support and well-wishes. It has been a difficult time for sure.

Ed, there's no need. Your family is WAY more important than my silly drawing/post.

Did ya snap pictures of the Dodge?

I took a bunch of pics of the Dodge. I will see if Mark can post them for me.

At least you don't need that 900 dollar fuel pump

Too late. We had a full tune up and Mopar fuel pump installed about a week to 10 days ago. There goes $1000 down the drain. Can you say bad timing.

My wifes leg is pretty sore today but overall things are as good as they can be.

Going to look at a Mercury Villager minivan tomorrow am so we have a people hauler again.

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)/Ed's bad day

Ha, nice thread title change! I like it!

Minivan, huh? I SWEAR till the day that I die I will never own a Minivan! There will always be SUVs to haul my family of 20 if need be.

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)/Ed's bad day

Wow yeah Im glad that everyone is okay! Sorry about the minivan! haha Prayers go out to Sunshine for a full and quick recovery!

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)/Ed's bad day

Well, sorry to disappoint you guys but I bought a 1999 Mercury Villager minivan this morning. It is a great buy and it has the ability to haul us all plus more. MPG's are really good and A/C is ice cold. It was what we needed. My daughter asked if we could add the family decals to the back window. I have a soccer ball decal in the works too. Hehehe.

It looks like Sunshine will be discharged tomorrow. She is in good spirits and feels pretty good.

I've been taking care of the kids along with my parents. I've found I'm very inadequate as a parent and realizing how much my wife does. She makes it all look so easy and I'm stuggling just to find food and clothes to function. Please give your significant other a big hug and don't take them for granted.

Thank God for all my friends and family who have pitched to help and offered assistance. Thank you guys so much for that.

Haven't you heard that song by Brad Paisley? Mr. Mom. It ain't easy!

That wasn't Paisley, It might have been LoneStar.

Ed, glad everyone is okay!

My condolences on the minivan, we had a 00 WindedStar(same as villager) and it was a total POS. I'll never own another ford anything after that one. You have to drop the engine to change the back 3 plugs. We had so many issues I can't even remember them all.

Traded it for the Hemi XK and life is good, I use the money I save in repairs to van for gas now:D

Show the insurance company your receipt, Don't let them screw you!

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)/Ed's bad day

Ed - Show the receipts of the work you just had done on the Dakota to your insurance company. Use it as leverage when they make you an offer on the truck. Especially since you spent the extra money and bought good quality parts from the dealer.

Good talking with you on the phone tonight as well. Keep us up to date on Sunshine and her. Don't be afraid to call if you need to rack my brain some more on the van. Happy to help out anyway that I can!

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)/Ed's bad day

Hope Sunshine is doine well. Did she break a femur? Glad all are alive and well too. Let us know if you need anything Ed.

First real day of being Mr. Mom taking the kids to the sitter and school. Ollie's face is healing nice and the bruising is going away.

Shine should be discharged today. Just waiting now.

The am went like clockwork. Got the kids up and off to school/babysitter on time. Saw my insurance man and got the tow company to release my tag so I could transfer it. Went to bank to get the cash to buy the van. Met Mom and had her take me to get the van. Then we had to drive to the Boro to get the tag. Then went to insure it and get the registration taken care of. Filled it up with gas. Started at 5:30 am and got everything taken of by 11 am. Not a bad morning.

My 1999 van has the spark plugs all accessible from the top of the engine and it says it is a 30 minute job. My V6 must be different than yours. The Mercury Villager is the same as the Nissan Quest. Basically a Nissan van built in a Ford plant.

Re: Bagwell's Used Cars (Useless Post)/Ed's bad day

Good to hear. I couldn't remember the plugs being real hard to get to on that era Villager. The Windstar was a Ford powertrain, which is probably why it's a pain to get to the plugs lol.

Glad to hear the family is healing well Ed.

Our 00 had the 3.8 V-6, we bought it new and drove it to 82k when I was done with it. Sounds like you got the better engine in yours. Ours was hard on tires/brakes due to the weight of the van so i went with Michelin 80k tires and ceramic pads and that helped.
