Badlands - 9/11

The funniest part of the day was when Zandie locked Mark out of the XJ!!!
That was funny ... you missed it when Mark tried to get Zandie to unlock the door! "Come on Zandie ... now just push that little button?" :roflmao:
It was a very good time. Outside of Brad's door, or Rob's door moulding, or Rory's brake line, there was very little carnage this time. That is if you also don't count the electrical short under the dash ... or the failed relay to the cooling fans ... or the normal pin striping and scuffed rims ... :eyes:

Thanks everyone ... you all are a great bunch of friends.

Les

PS: No prob about pics ... I did not get any except poser shots of the SWB's for Aaron. Awwwww the memories though ...

Doggone it ... have I screwed up Rory's brothers name? Is it Rob, or is it Ryan? :o Damn brain voltage must be a little low ... sorry.

You did not get rid of the Badlands prize did you?
You took away the golf cart?

BASTIDS!
They were giving away a Badlands thong for 1st body panel brought back. You guys have no idea how close you came to a horrible viewing experience from the avatar I had planned.

Yep ... the burned out heep is gone too Sean. They've almost turned this place into a State Park or something. Next thing you know, they pull out the weedeaters.

Did any of guys partake in the cleanup of the badlands last weekend. If not you missed a great night run and dinner that was provided free of charge for all the hard work.
Think about it , Wheel all day pick up a candy wrapper here and there, throw a tire in the provided dumpster and you got to enjoy a night run free of charge on The Badlands.

Hummm, wheel on state or fed land and you can do a night run when ever you feel!?

Some of you guys need to wheel outside of IL.

Chewy

My weekend and vacation time is worth 50 bucks an hour minumum.

If I have to resort to paying to wheel on private land because I can't go somewhere REAL, I sure as hell am not gonna burn daylight NOT wheeling so I can save 20 bucks....

nice effort folks, but once again, for the record........if this effort were music, it would be polka.

Beezil did you not read the post, we DID wheel all day long at a REAL place, plus got to do a night run there as well. I guess we can assume you wont be attending any of the Badlands runs anymore due the lack of ability of these trails to challenge your rig, oh well such is life.
Thanx Digger

Last time I checked IN was outside of IL...

Sorry not all of us have the funds or time to travel across the country. I *could* save all my money and takeone week to go to Moab but I would rather wheel every couple of weeks at closer parks.

Can;t beat a day of free wheeling coupled with a free night run. To top it of FI got a day pass to the Badlands for my participation as well.

Keep in mind the point of the run was not to get in for free, it was to help clean up the park.

Was not aware the Badlands was not "real" wheeling... Well, I can kind of see that point of view, I mean "real" wheeling is done with the tires on the gorund...

Beezil @ Badlands

The big thing you seem, to forget is that all of the trash wa son the trail... you had to get to it somehow. Our group ran almost as much trail and had as much or more fun then we normally do ut on the trail.

MOAB, CO, Tellico, Rubicon, AZ, ARE FREE! They dont have anyone working a front office. No pass to buy! nada , just bring your sack and gas money.

I know people on blue box mac and cheese lifestyles that can get to MOAB with in 5 YEARS!

Id rather go on a few choice trips a year and have memories that last a lifetime, wheel on real trails and obstacles, than sit in Attica looking at the landfill every weekend....guess thats me though.

Nice try, go back over to GLJT with your free pass and Attica night run stories maybe some noobs will be impressed.....cuz im not :looser:

PS:
Im still diggin in 4wheeler magazine to find gnarly pics of you in "washing machine alley", or "blue bag bender"

Exactly, I am not onthat lifestyle... it is more important for me to enjoy the rest ofmylife right now then it is to go to Moab. Tellico or Paragon may be inthenear future pending a tow rig.

The point of wheeling is not to get your picture in the magazines, it isnot to out do the other guy, it is not to be the hardest of the hardcore... If anyof that is why you are wheeling then I feel sorry for you. If you feel like your wheeling out does the other guys then youjust don't get it. Some guy dragging a stock TJ he has had out twice over green trail is just as much a wheeler as you on your 3rd trip to Moab, possibly more, if the attitude is right. It is a state of mind or an attitude that make a perosn a good, not their rig or where they wheel.

The whole idea of wheeling is to have fun, help others, be yourself and enjoy your rig and your friends on the trail. I do that every time I make a trip to The Cliffs or The Badlands.

NO tow rig here!

Not looking to be in a magazine!

My rig is my DD and how I get to work to make my ends.
1992 Xj w/ 165K on the clock, rust and more rust, drives like a tractor.

Been driven to Moab, wheeled, wheeled hard, driven back twice..... your point? Its not a money issue. There was no tow rig involved? Just me, a used and abused XJ, sleeping bag and some change in my pocket.

Memories that will last a lifetime.............
Pictures that tell the tale that I was there............
Meeting new and exciting people from all over the world.....
Sitting on top of Gemini Bridges at 3am w/a full moon, yep priceless..............If you've never been, you can not understand!

Hell no, I didn't pick up trash!

In fact, I brought my own trash and LITTERED!!! Everywhere! Most of the junk you picked up was probably shit I cleaned out from my garage and basement the night before. My garbage man won't take old batteries and stuff, they say I have to recycle them, f-that! I just dumped them in that ratty old golf cart and someone else picked em up. Suckas!!!

hmmm.... I must have missed the free dinner invite.

A 92 with only 165K is like a new ride compared to my Jeep. Driving a vehicle only slightly over 10 years old across the country is no big feat. My poor little CJ is almost 25 years old, has at least 200K on it's motor, a soft top that rarely stays closed up and a list of issues longer then my arm. I woudl be pleased if it drove as good as a tractor... or if it rode as good as one.

Driving a rig like yours out to moab, while not a dream road trip, really is not to big of a deal. Not all Jeeps, even mostly stock ones are somehting you can make a drivce like that with. If I had a Jeep like that I would be much more likely to make a trip like that.

no one is sayign the memories or experiances are not priceless. I woudl love to be abel to go but right now it is not in the cards... ;like I said, I would rather wheel all the itme then take one trip a year, ther eis no fun in the waiting for me and as great as it must be I can not imagine one trip to Moab making up for a year of no wheeling.

Of course what does any of this have to do with the topic of the thread other then you trying to show how cool you are?

bew hew

We drove to and from Virginia TWICE in Rory's old TJ, which was a 4 banger on 36's with like, 3 feet of lift, disconnected, with no AC in July.

[justin timberlake] Cry me a river! [/justin timberlake]

Oh yeah, and he drove it twice to CO, man that thing sucked, but I miss it.
