putting a locker in a stock rear axle is a waste of money.

Especialy if the dana 44 is 30 spline....the 8.25 are 29 spline. Both of which are great axles locked.I'm going to disagree BOB. Locking a 29 spline or D44 would not be a waste.

The 30/44 combination is fine unless you are going to run over 35" tires.
Most people here will not be going bigger than 35s.
If you want to put a locker in a 30 or a 44, go for it, make sure you think about gearing first so you don't have to do things twice.....
