If your leaving it up there year round id go with a standard wood handle shovel and treat the wood with a good coating of linseed oil. as far as axe, a fiskars is a pretty inexpensive but quality axe. id never put my gransford on the roof but have been happy with the fiskars for the past 15 years.
We going prospecting somewhere?? Just throw some harbor freight specials up there. Ten years of wheeling I’ve yet to see anyone break out a shovel. We are royal screwed if and axe is going to help the situation lol.
