Very nice! What year is your XJ? Did you have to do the PCM swap as well? I was only laughing at your fans because you said they cool very well but in that picture there are no hoses on the radiator...so as it was in that picture you would overheat very quickly even if the fans were all running full speed!

So what kind of fans are those? And how much did they cost? Looks like a good setup. I've been planning on going electrics on my XJ as well.
Sorry...did not the conversion from awd--just replaced the engine transmission package with a new.... and included some small mods. on the way. Like the fans. No big deal compared to your project.
By the way, Its an 1997 Sport.
Fans came out of eBay.com. I bought them complete with a temp. regulation for something like $200. Replaced and wired up one of them like the original el. fan. Two others triggers from sensor. Easy set up and works great. Fan schroud not needed. Removed the mud splash mat under the engine though so air change became better under the hood.
By the way, Its an 1997 Sport.

Ok cool I will be completely satisfied with that. I have a cold air, bored TB, and TB spacer and soon I'll do exhaust. Should do fairly well. Especially compared to what it is now. Oh and I bought that 97-01 master/slave cylinder set up on ebay and figured I'd try a shot in the dark and ask the seller if he had the clutch pedal assembly as well. By some chance of god he did! I told him I'd give him another $20 bucks and he accepted. How's that for luck?? :worship:
Ok well I got the slave/master cylinder today. And the clutch pedal assembly. Unfortunately it is NOT a clutch assembly from a 97-01 Cherokee. It looks exactly the same as yours, Char-broil. So, I'm trying to talk to the ebay guy to see if he actually has the right one. If not, I may have to use this. I see where you cut the clutch part off. So did you then attach the clutch portion to the existing brake pedal assembly? From the pics it looks like you used the older style clutch assembly because it has the small brake pedal rather than to wide one. So what clutch/brake braket combo works? Also, since I do have the correct master cylinder, I wonder if I'll have to extend the pushrod like you did?

can you post a picture of it? I can confirm whether it is out of a 97 or not. If it is out of a 97 it would have to be different, they changed it because of how the pedal mounts to the dash, which changed in 97. You probably have the right thing and you're just confusing which is which. Or, he totally has no idea what a 97 XJ is. I was just looking on eBay at a 4.0 coil pack and the guy said it would work for 97-01 Cherokee...haha they didn't switch to the coil pack until 2000. Sometimes people don't know what they're selling.

OK the one on the LEFT (single pedal) is from the 2000. In this picture I had not changed anything so the one with the 2 pedals is straight out of the 94. What I did was to remove the clutch pedal and weld it onto the 00 brake pedal bracket. I cut down the brake pedal to fit, and used the longer thru bolt from the 94 assembly. I think that's it. Oh and if you got a master cylinder from a 97+ and that is actually right you shouldn't need to lengthen it at all.
Ok I thought about it for a while and stared at the pics you had up of the pedal assembly and that's what I figure haha. The brake pedal was confusing me. I'll post a pic of the assembly I just got when I get home today. I'm pretty sure it is exactly the same as yours thought. I don't think the guy on ebay knew what he was talking about. But the master/slave cylinder IS from a 97-01 era for sure.

However, since I'm pretty sure the clutch assembly isn't, the little piece that sticks out of the clutch pedal arm for the master cylinder pushrod to mount to is too small. In the following pic you can see the eye of the master cylinder pushrod around the clutch thing. It is clearly too big. You didn't have this problem, did you?

you sure did get an early model clutch pedal assembly. What I did is not that hard, provided you have a good drill and access to a welder. I'll send you detailed instructions and all the pictures I have tonight on how to do it. Looks like you're going to need a sleeve to get that master cylinder to work. Maybe if you took both the pedal and the master cylinder into a dealer they could tell you what you need. Otherwise you could just drill it out and use a bolt and washers to fasten it.
Yeah I thought about the bolt idea. Since I'm not going to use the brake pedal from the early model assembly I might just press and/or drill out the stub that the brake master cylinder mounted and replace the clutch one with that. I already checked and it just barely fits but it's tight so I might have to sand it down a bit so it can move more freely. I don't want a sticky clutch pedal. Then I can use the factory retaining clip on it. Should work in theory. Then the only question is if the pushrod and clutch pedal stub will line up.

How's it coming?
Well I'm in the process of rebuilding the AX15. The guy I bought it from said it was high mileage so I decided while I have it out I'll throw some new synchros and bearings in it. Then I'll be back to collecting the remaining parts I need. On your writeup you mention a clutch housing spacer. What is that? Is it just the regular bellhousing? Or is there something else that needs to go in between the engine and bellhousing?

have seen them on eBay. Look there and google it. Also check the source of that image. I didn't look long as I was at work when I posted it and I'm on my iPod now so I can't check but I think the place I stole that pic from was selling them.
