AW4 Tiptronic Controller

The guy in South Africa gave up because some Patent squater scared him away. It's sad, but a letter from a Lawyer carries no real weight but it'll sure scare the crap out of some people.

Once squatter suceeded in intimidating the guy he never said another word about it.

Oh, well. :( Guess I will have to make my own from the schematic. No laws aginst that, and if so the lawyer can kiss my :moon: ...

I'm looking back into building this again. Any reason why we couldn't put together a "group buy" of sorts? to order possible more than one board at a time? Since no one person is actually designing and selling a kit we shouldn't be infringing on anyone patent right?

Hi guys,

I get a lot of PM's on this subject so here is the final word from my side.....this project died cause i sold my jeep. So I don't have a test vehicle anymore and thus will no longer continue with this.....sorry.

If you want to do a DIY then just go for it and ignore the patent rights, he can't touch you if you do not turn it into a commercial project, so don't try and sell them in the states that is, any other country is fair game......

try to get hold of fletch maybe he can help with support

best of luck to all that try

Anton

I think I have an idea on how to do a shifter style that has a digital display/screen. If anyone is interested in being the guinea pig that lives in the Pacific Northwest let me know. I've been researching this for a while and have found parts to try this but I doubted that here would really be that many people that would spend the money and I don't need it.
I'd rather do the design and build part, or should I say the prototyping with someone and not the sell part, leave that to someone else. Just share what I did and how I did it.

I'm interested. If you need a second ginuea pig. The trans wiring on my 91 XJ is about the only thing that's not modified.

Well let me explain what I have in mind to those who may want to try this on their own.
Using a PLC with a small HMI display(Automation Direct sell's these, look at the DL05 and the Micro display) you could shift your trans. lock up the torque converter, monitor engine functions such as rpm, temps and pressures. These controllers are not cheap but having all that on a display rates up there on the cool and interesting factor.
There are always switches and Stewart-Warner gauges for us simple people.

I spent 3 weeks making anthons XJ model but didnt work may be its my fault but I gave it up

Anton I tried to trace your design before but I am not sure if its correct I used a program called Diptrace. Can you send the PCB traced so I can print it or the schematic.

Good job

Sorry for upping this post, but I'd like to know if there is any update about this mod. And if there's any way I can get the PCB or the full kit.

BTW I'm from Chile (south America) I have a 1994 XJ SE 2-door, 32" tires, lift, nice rims and a few stuff.

Thanks

PacerCL,
I was never selling this mod or did I plan to. Anton was the only one who had made a PCB available to sell [that I know of] I only posted the schematic so that anyone who was tech orriented could maybe build there own.
Sorry,
I don't have time to build and sell this. The one that I built isn't even on a proper PCB, its on a proto board covered in a lot [rats nest] of jumpers between ICs.

Fletch.
If you do try to build one then I may be able to help you trouble shoot it.

I took the PDF schematic and scanned it to an editable image so I could clear up some spots that showed up cluttered and unreadable (top right) and also upside down pin numbers that could be confusing (6's and 9's). I hope you didn't mind me tinkering with it, but it makes it much easier to read for me anyway.

2hrs of reading 15 pages, and BAM! some arse with a woody had to choke out the project...:bawl:
