Automated car wash ruined my paint?

I swear to god...... if it wasn't for the fact that I genuinely don't want to throw away the past 22 years of my life I spent building my career as a cop........ I'd be going to jail right now.

That M.F.-er Suncor exec. that wanted to see my truck in person and "discuss" my issue made me wait 30 minutes past our agreed meeting time, hands me $30 in Suncor product vouchers "as an apology for being late" and then looks over my truck and says "I'm sorry, I just don't see how we're responsible for this. You're the only person that complained about the wash that day." That S.O.B. knew he was meeting with me to deny my claim the whole time. He said he was passing on the decision "by those above me."

I won't bore you with the rest of the conversation as it involved me trying to reason with the guy, but at the end, I simply expressed to him that I didn't appreciate him calling me a liar. I told him that what he's telling me is that the ONLY time they'll ever honor a claim like mine is if someone affilliated with their gas stations confirms in writing that the car was in good condition PRIOR to using their car wash. He stammers and says "That's not what I'm saying at all."

I then tore up the $30 vouchers and threw them in his general direction and left.

I'd let this go if it weren't about the principal of me being called a liar and essentially being accused of trying to get Suncor to pay for a polish job because apparently I woke up that morning and said to myself "Ya know, my truck looks like shit..... I think I'll go get someone else to pay to pretty it up."

You should post pic's of this on a site(Facebook,BLOG?), then park by there place and hand out flyers letting folks know how they treat people. (You own a printer right?) Be smart about it.Get some of your friends to help.Oh and walk in wearing your uniform if you are a street cop. Please smile when you walk in to.:) That's one I always liked.LOL.

I had already considered this. Thought about printing out a "Pre car wash inspection form" to hand out and let folks know that the clerk or manager needs to sign off on their car's condition before entering the wash.

Hey i didn't say to do anything while wearing it, do they serve soda and coffee an what not there? Like i said just walk in and buy something an SMILE when you do it.Don't say anything.I didn't know it was wrong for you guys to get stuff to eat and drink while in uniform. :)

Any progress on getting these weasels to see your side of the issue? I think I probably would have already badmouthed them on every public site on the net (yelp, BBB, their suncor blog, whatever else you can find) by now.
 
Submitted a BBB complaint...... they were to respond by 3/8 and if not, BBB would send a second attempt. I imagine the second attempt has been sent......

Didn't think of Yelp..... I'll look into that as well.

Part of me still wants to make a statement outside the store.......

I just can't stand being called a liar.
 
I wouldn't stop till they had lost at least ten times as much money as they would have by just paying for the repairs, personally.

Common sense? Practically non existent.

I can't believe a multi million dollar a year gas station (let alone the company) can't shell out a couple hundred bucks for clearly ruining a paint job.

This might be a real stretch, but have you called your state atorney generals office. It may seem crazy but I had friend that got screwed over by a car dealership in Cheyenne for a poorly done tranmission repair. A call to the AGs office and the dealership jumped at the idea of fixing what they had F'd up.

If you have full coverage turn in the claim and maybe your insurance would be happy to pursue a claim against the gas station.

Nah, the paint ain't ruined. It's just been dulled and basically coated in an excessive amount of car wash wax. Had a detailer use some compound and a pad and he was able to remove the crap and polish the paint pretty easily. Wants $168 to do the entire truck. That's what I've been asking Shell/Suncor for....... pay for my paint to be restored/buffed out.

Not worth a full coverage claim as my deductable is $500.

This whole thing is more about the principle and being wronged by stuff shirts looking to do what they can to deny doing the right thing to save a buck.

Makes me just wanna go take care of business like the Discount Tire/Old lady commercial...... :shhh:

Yep, they won.

Our incident was in 1998/99. I have gassed up at a Phillips station twice since then. So there is 15 years of lost revenue, compared to the $200 I had to pay for medical. They won BIG money!
 
Eff Suncor...... Eff Shell gas. Eff 'em.

Jim (SeeingSpots) hooked me up with an afternoon of his time, buffer and supplies in exchange for some plasma cutter time. :thumbup:
