Auto Tranny Line PSI?

What I've been trying to figure out is if say, a 1.5 quart radiator (with fans and shroud) that came off of my old honda interceptor would take the pressure of the trans lines.. ;)

If you have have it pressure-checked to about 50psig, you should do fine. I really don't think that there's too much pressure in the cooler lines - when that line blew all over me, it only sprayed because the hole started out small. There wasn't even anywhere near as much pressure as there is in a garden hose - and muni water mains usually run about 70psig or so.

15psi was probably a high guess, but I'm quite sure you'll be covered if you're running 50psig test pressures. I can't give you more than an estimate - since I haven't run a pressure check on the A/T Cooler Lines myself.

Aaron,

Did you ever find out for sure what psi runs thru tranny cooler lines? Half the people I talk to say next to nothing, but several (transmission techs and jeep dealership mechanics) are telling me 200+ PSI.

Very little since it drains back into the pan. On the bright side, at least you have a list of trans techs and stealerships to avoid.
