hey, anyone on here from the augusta area in maine, ive been seeing alot more lifted xjs around lately and im just wondering if there's anyone from on here. im in the redxj with 3inch and 31s with a "jeep" sticker on the rear window and safari rack

I am from the Waterville area. Right now i am in Colorado but will be returning to Maine in Jan/Feb time frame. It will be a big change from being in Texas and Colorado for the last 6 years. I drive a 94 XJ with 5ins. of lift, 33's, locked, OBA and a whole bunch of stuff. I plan to start a Maine chapter of Naxja as well as a local central Maine XJ club. My wife and I have plans to open a Jeep/4x4 shop as well. I will post when we are back. Keep in touch with me in the mean time. I also know some trails in the central Maine area as well and I want to do a run when i get back.

is it gonna be an issue to keep that road legal up here? we have all the abs laws and lift laws. one guy was givin me a hard time about inspecting my jeep with 31's i cant imagine what some people would say about 33's or 35's on an xj... but i plan on lifting annother 2 inches, regearing and running 33's by next summer. still trying to fine a d44 up here thats not 250$ and completly rusted out

Im living in the Farmington area right now...Green 98 on 4.5 and 31s for the winter.
As far as inspection goes Ive heard to many things lately to know for sure if he should be worried about or not, all depends on whos doing the inspecting...

yea and the inspections laws are just going to get even worse for us off-roaders in the near future. i have my inspection licenses and i have heard some really stupid things they wanna pass.

nothings final right now and if some of the ideas even happen it wont be till like 2009 when we start doing california emmisions

is there somewhere I can get the laws for inspection? I gotta keep my dd inspectable and it would help if I knew what was legal and what was not...

they said i can't have anything bigger than a 235 on my xj and i can't alter the suspension in anyway because i have abs, but if u don't have abs u should be fine

pm me some questions if you have any. i have my inspection license so i have the rule book and could tell you exactly what you need to know

I will be in touch with you all for the next couple of months. I will need to get a state inspection and junk sometime after returning to Maine. Hopefully since i will be getting out of the Army, the state will give me a little more time to get it done.

yea ive been followed countless time by maine state police all over augusta and bangor areas..... oh pain in the ass waterville police. they think they can bust me for the lift and the jeep mods i have, and then when they go to pull me over they realize they CANT because im from maryland and have MD plates. so they run the jeep's info over the radio and find i am a sensable driver with a clean record. And being a good driver, i dont ever give them the benefit of the doubt by being an idiot and letting them pull me over. so they tail gate me till i brake check them, and go around me. i dont get it they are wicked dinks some times. but its great and ohhhhh i go to augusta all the time. theres a xj that works at ems ova there by the walmart and all. and talk to him once or twice. but yea definately let me know when you wnat to go wheeling some good trails up here in central maine. just gotta find them and then legalize them.

I live at sugarloaf and drive a 01 xj, it is 6.5 inches up with 33's. Inspection is rough with it however with some 31's on they just kinda get on me about my frame height. If anyone is around this area let me know.

Im in the Farmington area, been seeing a few lifted xjs around here lately. Theres a red one that did a good job with his front tj flares, and 2 blue ones around 3" on 31s. Lewiston, Maine also seems to have a lot of lifted cherokees...
