there is a lot more to just 'getting a better tire'...

I used to run BFG MT's, and could go to about 13# and that was right... Now I run Maxxis Creepies, and run em around 4.5# and that is about right...

but the Maxxis tires would be horrible on the street, and wouldnt wear for shit - where the BFG's would do that well...

the BFG's were radials, and the Maxxis are Bias...

different tires need different pressures - and they all need beadlocks at some point to keep the rim from spinning in the tire, and to keep the tire on the bead seat...

I have heard praise for fake beadlocks being more resistant to bending the rim of the wheel, as black steel wheels tend to do.

Kind of like 1/2" Chinese steel rod.

Edit: cheap black steel wheels suck anyway and I hope to never run them again, fake beadlock or not.

well like a few of ya said. it would be about the same amount of effort to make it real vs fake. so if i do this i think im going to just go all out and make em actual bead locks. i have access to a plasma Cam so all i need are the dimentions from a kit and see how much the metal would cost me. Plus all the hardwear

Street locks aren’t THAT bad, come on now. They have a thicker bead seat than soft 8's and take good beating on the rocks. I would like to run true bead locks when funds allow and I upgrade but I haven't had a problem yet at 6psi at times.

untill your on some extreme side hill, Plus i'v seen red labels (37x13.5x17") spin on the rim it self running about 8 lbs, he was using some serious hp though when they started spinning, good soulition is the bead sealer compound and re-seat the beads. I love my beadlocks, its nice to be worry free and beable to winch side ways in certain cases and not worry about loosing a bead.

Any ideas on how to make my real beadlocks look fake? I need to have beadlocks, but I really like poser look. The real beadlocks clash horribly with my smittybuilt nerf bars, huge useless roof roack, and my half broken off spare tire carrier.

Glue some of those rhinestones on top of your real beadlock bolts. That would look sweet. :laugh3:

Throw some low profile 30 series tires on those rims and then no one will notice your rims and you will be cool and the chicks will love you.

Oh, a really loud muffler with a gigantic tail pipe will distract them too.

Beadlocks arnt legal in cali. anyways. The cop might notice them from a distance, But when he pulls you over for somthing else he or she might check the vehical for illagal mods. It happened to a buddy of mine.

Streetlocks are cheap and I have run them at 6psi with no problems!! Nothing wrong with looking like you are locked....... How many of you pimp your cheap getto gold and china made fancy pants?!?!?!? Please do not try and make your own beadlocks, leave that to the professionals!! Getto fab beadlocks are ticking timebombs!! eace:

Actually, the street locks are worse then that. They make a truck preform worse then it would without them. A "street lock" rim weighs more then the same wheel without all that crap on the lip. Decreases acceleration, increases brake distance increases un-sprung weight. That's all good, right?quote]
