ARB switch orientation?

Just wired in my switch and to me it seem backwards in operation. First off the off position is up, or you push the switch down to activate the solenoid. This seem backwards to me, is it correct? Also when I hit my lights the bigger upper lighted square comes on, then when I engage the locker( push down on the switch paddle, the line on the switch lights. Is this correct?

It seems to me that the down position should be off and pushing the paddle up would engage the locker. Also the line would be lit when lights are turned on and the larger square would light when the lockers engaged.

You have it correct, At least you have it the way I have mine. The paddle itself is reversable, just pop it of and turn it around. Then the big square will come on to tell you the locker is engaged, and the little line will come on with the parklights.

If by pushing the paddle up you mean the large square is at the top, then yes. The squares on the lockers will only light up if the compressor is on, and then the front only if the rear is on. The "slits" dim with the dash lights, but only the switch is off (down); they go out when the switch is in the on (up) position. The "squares" do not dim. If you look closely on either the side or back of the switch module there is a tiny arrow indicating which end goes up. Keep in mind that I am refering to the new style switch. Right or wrong, this is how mine are set up.

Now all I need to find is a F%#(!NG pair of 90* metric street elbows and I'd be a happy camper!

ok, so since I'm not running an air compressor and it's wired hard it make sence that the square is always one.

My slits are off until I push the switch down or on the lower portion of the paddle, then the slit comes on. Push the paddle up, or on the upper section and it turns it off. I think it's right just seems backwards when compared to my factory Jeep toggles.

Sounds backwards to me. Mine are wired so the slit is on with the dash lights and the sqare only comes on when the it is switched on.

Are you sure you weren't looking at the switch upside down when you wired it?

1 is illumination blue wire from clock harness - comes on with dash lights
2 is hot for switch, activates the solenoid
4 is power or constant hot from battery red stripe from clock harness
5 is ground for solenoid but I have the solenoid grounded else where, 5 is gorunded through the clock harness same as 6.
6 is ground

If I flip 2 and 4 will it reverse the switch?

You just have the paddle on upside down. If you want the switch to work in the other direction you need to pull it out of the hold and flip it over. Your wiring is backwards.

ok the above spade diagram is messed up, should be:

zero has no spade there.

as for flipping the rocker around, I'll have to pull it apart and see, not quite picturing it right now.

I picked up on that when I quoted you before. What needs flipped over is just the switch front or cover. It will snap on either way and you have it upside down so the light showing on or off is under the line and the illumination is under the square. Very simple fix. Flip it over and you'll see what I mean, it will snap off, you can flip it 180 degrees and snap it back in place.

It is backwards from standard but that's how the switches are laid out in the bottom XJ switch panel(a common place to put these switches). The rear defroster and rear windshield wipers are both push down for on.

I have mine mounted in the same place. Mine are push on the top edge for on and bottom edge for off.

Oh yea that'll work. Every time he wants to use the locker he'll have to reach for the BRA switch.
By the time he figures it out he'll be stuck.

That sounds like a good idea. 2nd option would be to flip the switch over in the hole also, but I kind of like the "BRA" idea. Can I get another one that says "NO".

thats what I was think, just flip the switch body around, and having the paddle text upside down would probably drive me nuts too. Gotta get everything working first..
