Anyone recognize this dude driving his "stock" XJ?

Heh, that's funny. I just posted one of those on POR a day or two ago and he was like "Where the heck did you find that?" :D

Jes

LMAO!!! I am in the midst of swapping that very same D30 onto my 89 XJ...(I pulled it apart this morning to inspect the UJs & such, waiting on UCA bushings tomorrow at the stealership)

Someone who looks alot like that guy behind Easy DIDN'T USE ANY ANTI-SIEZE ON THE CALIPER BOLTS (grrrr) we had to get 3' of pipe on the pullbar for those LOL.

FWIW the axle looks alot like the rest of that XJ LOL

Hehe, at least I put anti sieze on the bearing bolts:D Woody, would you believe I payed $100 less for those 297 shafts than you did for the whole axle:mad: I needed 'em bad at the time.

That d35 is in that pic too KY. Actually, that d35 made it through the Con, Rd 21, Mt. Blanca, all over Moab, Spring Creek, Carnage Canyon, Tellico, Badlands, and many more that I'll never remember. All that with only 2 broken shafts cuz my tires were gettin' stuffed into the rock rails. The 2nd Tellico trip spelled its demise though. I've still got the housing and it has 2 perfectly good shafts in it. Maybe I should put it up for sale?

That piece that's on it was my first project with my new 110 MIG. Made it out of lawn edging, that thing is super strong. My buddy Curt and I made it at my apartment. Put it on and took it to the largest rock we could find and tried to make it flex, nothing doin' though it just started chippin' CO granite. It's gonna be going up for sale soon too.

Ahh, the memories:rolleyes:

needed anti-sieze on the pinion bearing

We were heading up to run Guardrail and the Pad...One Ton's Jeep was like "I think I can, I think I can" till it figured out where we were going.

LOL I saw those ABS tone rings on the stubs and was like  ...that didn't take special rotors or calipers did it? I was gonna keep the fresh stuff on my 89 if you didn't do anything exotic.

Dont feel bad...ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I expect to get poked hard  at the stealership for those 2 UCA bushings. I interrupted their "5 Star Banquet" when I stopped by to order them. SOB's started locking the doors when they saw the ole raggly XJ come rollin on in. They had a crowd outside oogling some new lookin minivan LOL

Ahh, memories of the "Great Flying Tire Event". At least ya learned to put a strap through it a few hundred yards earlier :D

Sean

That was a great week. Lots of tires flying and general mayhem. Woody, I still owe you about a case of beer from the campgrounds, and another case for pulling me out from under the MJ on Slickrock.
Nate

Ya know, now that I think about it. Our illustrious bonehead award winner has a few of those parts on it. Rick, care to take a pic for us? I don't think he really hangs around here much though. Wait 'til ya see this year's bonehead award, it's gonna take a forklift to move it :D

Oh yeah Woody, word to the wise- PUT SOME NEW JOINTS IN THOSE SHAFTS. Those are the same joints that were in 'em when I bought the pair. I was getting rather brave towards the end of Easy's stock axle phase.

Sean

I took a picture of One Ton's rig last year at Tellico. I showed it to my wife and told her "Honey, this is the future of my XJ!" She wasn't amused and told me that I'd better find somewhere else to park it! :scared: WOMEN! They just don't understand the bond between a man and his Jeep do they??

"Woody, I still owe you about a case of beer from the campgrounds, and another case for pulling me out from under the MJ on Slickrock."

Hey Nate...long time bro :)

The Campground beer I'll gladly accept but as for the Slickrock case...That was one of those 'dive in there' moments where just glad to be in the right place at the time to act. OTOH there's nothing worse than running out of beer before ya run out of moonlight.

That reminds me, Cottontail owes us a case for missing the party while we tore down his clutch assy. Might owe us another for trying to get up trail 6 in high range  Then the CG host has the nerve to pitch a fit when I busted out the machine gun...would they prefer we just beat and thrashed on it all night? (or set fire to it and abandoned)

LOL thanks for the advice on the UJs Sean...I am nearly broke right now, but in a week or so I'll be back into it for brake pads, so I'll swop em then. They felt smooth enough when I checked them out yesterday, but you know the history of em better than I.
