Out west?
No-No my son, look down....keep looking down.
Are you looking down?
Good.
Look down some more...
ALL the way down...
See Mcallen? - look slightly east.
See Harlingen? look slightly west.

There you go!

See. There's proof that Texas is too big for its britches :laugh3:

Dang it, you are, of course, right. My apologies!

I guess I need to get out more.

What I should have said was that Texas aint flat all over.

I'm in the Big-D. Dallas for those of you not edumicated in the texas slang. As for texas being the second largest state, Alaska is a fake state (in that it was bought, not fought for), texas is the largest real state. And also the only state legally able to secede from the USA. I've been to nearly every state in the union and texas is the only state that I will ever live in. The scenery may be better elsewhere and the weather might be better elsewhere, but there is nothing quite like texas. You have to live texas to understand texas.

Born in Whichita Falls, Tx. Moved to Spain then New Mexico then back to Tx. If my dad was not in the Air Force, I would probably never have left. Lived here 25 years now. I have a great job in Arlington , Tx now (future home of the Cowboys) and I will be here at least another 27 years, till I retire.

Then, I will probably move to Colorado so my wheelin' trips will be closer to home. :laugh3:

TEXAS will always be my home. :loveu:

After meeting you a few weeks ago and knowing that you are not from here, I know why you would not understand.

Cali. will always be you home, wouldn't it? Or do you not have a place you like to call home? :)

I knew someone would bring up the Louisiana purchase. The louisiana purchase was made because we needed it and because it was a good investment. Alaska was bought because it was so damn cheap. It wasn't until after we bought it that we found oil up there, and then we turned and laughed at the russians for giving up such prime realestate.

welcome home.....

I believe there used to be an actual Texas Chapter, but it I think it folded for some reason. Otherwise we'd be in the Southwest Chapter, which also doesn't exist. So we have no chapter. :(

ft hood (hour north of austin)....but thats when i'm not deployed to iraq

Well then a new chapter needs to be formed for either Texas alone(he77 colorado has there own) or Southwest. admins lets get on that shall we. Call it mid US and make it all the states that run right down the middle.

First step to start a chapter, you have to be a member of NAXJA. Last time we rushed into starting a chapter (my fault) and after the first term for our BOD members, no one else would step up to the plate and take on the task. This has been discussed often. You must first develop a strong base. Strong base = group of people who get together often to wheel and wrench and don't whine about having to travel to wheel (this is Texas, it's BIG). Group of people = 12 - 20 people, not 4 or 5.

I'm trying to become a member, but I currently have IE7 nstalled and the membership page is giving me issues, or it could just be the page itself, since no other website gives me issues. As soon as that is done, I'll see about gathering people from all the leftover central timezone states and get them together to see if we can get a chpter started. If that does not work then I'll get us attached to one of the other chapters, but I feel that there are enough from those other states to warrent one or the other.
