I know I'm a cheap bastard and should just buy one, but I'd prefer not right now. Can anyone in the LA area lend me one? It would be much appreciated, especially since Autozone stopped lending them out. Thanks.

If you have an android smart phone, ~20$ on amazon will get you a BT OBD adapter. DL free version of torque and you're set. You would have to drive up to Pismo to use mine. (=

No kidding? An Android app? What'll they think of next. Alas, I have an I-phone. And an old one at that. Not gonna be in Pismo anytime soon.

I have a DRB II with the renix and HO adapters and a DRB III, I'll be more than happy to scan your jeep for you. But lending them out is a bit out of the question.

BTW what year is your jeep and where about in "Los Angeles" are you?

Thanks, Mark. Its a '99. I'd bring it to you except that it's not street legal right now. (Can't register it till I get it smogged. Can't pass smog till I fix it. Can't fixed it till I figure out the issue.) it's in west L.A., not far from Pico and Westwood. If that's doable for you, I can meet you there pretty much any time.

BTW, I've read that on a '99 you can read the code on the dash by turning the ignition on and off three times in succession. There are youtube videos showing the process. Tried it. Didn't work.
