Anyone had Cooper STT's (new style) for awhile?

Just looking for feedback on the new style Cooper STT's. I am looking for tread life results, and long term review.

A guy in the are has them on a TJ and loves them. He has 15k on em, with alot (didn't measure exact) tread left. They have alot of good reviews on the web too.

I appreciate everyones opinions, but if you don't have experience with these tires or coopers in general please reserve your comments. I am not looking for a cooper vs. whatever debate in this thread.... just info on this tire right now.

Thanks!

wife's uncle has them on a sequioa for his winter tire. It's never been offroad, but they have worn well on the street for him. 2 or 3 winters and they still look new. Says they drive well in the snow.

I have a set of 31's and love them. They are just as the reviews say that I read before I bought them.At first they have a little "sway/wander/mushy feel" to them while going down the road.It disappeared after about 250-300 miles.I do not do the hardcore 4 wheeling that a lot of people on here do because mine is my main mode of transportation.I have had them in sand where they dig but keep going. They are good in the mud at least the bit I have had them in.Overall I am very happy with them and I have about 15k on them.I wish I would have got 33's though. They are not that noisey(as compared to swampers) but they do make a lil noise. One of the best tires I have ever had.I also read that the M/T MTZ was built on the same main carcass as the STT.

Im looking at 31's, also. Do you mind measureing the remaining tread depth? Just curious how much has worn off, and want to guesstimate the life of the tire.
Ya cooper builds Mickey Thompson... My MTX's were great but will only have 20-25K on them when I get rid of them (probably 4 32nds left).

Thanks!

My buddy has them on a 03 f150 and loves them he has about 20K on them with acouple burnouts here and there they have around 40-50% thread left. They do make some noise and ride alittle rough but thats what its all about anyways

I paid 675 mounted, balanced and out the door but got the 50,000 mile premium road hazard(15 a tire). It's nice to know they will come out in the middle of nowhere and fix it if needed.I think they ride better than the BFG's I had.I'll try to get a measurement for you though.Heck when they are new it looks like there is about an inch of tread anyways.Other than the knobs having a little bit of rounding, they still look great.

I run the old style and they got about 65,000 and thats with hard wheeling. If the new ones are any where near as good as the old ones then I'll be goin with them again. The only thing about the Coopers Is they are so hard of a tire you need to air down to 13psi or less to get any flex out of them. When I started wheeling them I would air down to 18 as I did with the bfgs I ran before but would spin on every thing and not flex around and over but after I went to 10 psi OH MY GOD! These things are awsome. Nock on wood I have yet had to replace or repair a tire because of wheeling just the normal nail here and there.

I had a set of the earlier version...loved em as a general all around tire...good in sand and pretty dard good in mud....long life tire....but expensive.

I've had a set of 33's on my rig for a while now, probably around 10,000 Mi so far. I love them so far, they've been good in the rain and snow, haven't had a chance to get them off road yet...Very quiet IMO, I had X-Terrians previously, and (so far) would take these hands down.

I have 31x10.50s (New style) on my ThumperXJ. Theyve been on for about 15,000 miles now. Theyve already been put through sand, wet and dry, rocks, dirt, wet and dry, wet roads, dry roads, extended highway driving, and have seen a Buttload of DD. I have nothing bad to say about them at all. Personally I will be sticking with these until something better comes along, which in my opinion hasnt and wont for a long while... I believe they are better than the Goodyear MT/Rs, ESPECIALLY where mud is concerned. Ive also never had to air them down yet, and yes, I do crawl the rocks on a regular basis. Do be sure to have them balanced and rotated regularly. A friend of mine has had his on just as long as me but has NEVER B/R them. They do tell you when theyre over due.

Thank you everyone. It really looks like the tire I will go with....a little more aggressive then I originally planned, but I think I will be happy with them.

I have them on my 90 D150 4x4 ext cab longbed daily driver for about 9000miles(thats how many miles I put on it and they came on the truck so prolly more miles.) Have done some wheeling but they trucks just way too long. Size is 265/75/16. GREAT in snow. Would run them on my xj but for the wheeling I do I need a real nobby tire(lots of mud and muddy trails and not sure if they come in a 37".)... Love them...

I have the earlier design Cooper STT and have had them for three years now. I cant wear them out! I want the new tread pattern but damn, I need these old ones gone first! I can tell you that these are fantastic tires and have performed well in all situations even without airing down.

I have never had a flat on any one of them so far and they still remain in good balance since I last had them balanced two years ago.

I wont buy any other tire now unless someone proves to me there is something better for the style wheeling and driving that I do.

Anything under $700 for a set of four isn't a bad price at all. I got mine at distributor cost and they were $600 then.

Now that these tires have been around for a while what's the census?

On road and Off? I'm looking at getting these in a 30" flavor and have read that they are the cats meow?

I'd especially appreciate a realworld comparison against the BFgoodrich AT's. I'll mainly be using these on my dd/wekend warrior and would like to hear about their on road characteristics and streetability. Life expectancy?
Thanks
Ray
