I just went and did some research as my engine is leaking hefty amounts of oil as well
but I found out that the RMS is sometimes the last thing it could be. that's just the area that all the fluid falls to because the engine is tilted back
first check valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals, and distributor gasket first to see if it could be one of those maybe?
I wanted to post in here instead of starting a new thread. Does anyone have any idea what a respectable shop would charge for a rear main seal replacement? I work two jobs and really don't think I will have the time to do it myself and would almost rather just take it to someone to have it done properly.
Ah, just realized this was in a local chapter and not in a main forum. Thanks for that info, mako my day, hopefully a local shop around here can give me a reasonable deal like that.
get some 31s...jack it up front and the pan will slide out....now if you have a truss like me its a PITA...replaced a few RMS and its pretty straight forward, just take your time pulling the old seal as you can score the crank and make for a leaky seal FOREVER
