I found a seller on ebay with BOTH liftgate shocks for under $30 and only $8 shipping...Everywhere else they are $25+ each are these junky??-thanks, Josh

are they used? if so, dont buy them, if not do they have a warranty?

I got two replacement shocks at advance auto for around 50 bucks and they said they have a lifetime replacement warranty.

not used they have a lifetime warranty and hes a power seller with 99% positive feed back of over 2000 sales...however one of the negatives said he doesnt honor lifetime warranty, but gave no specifics so it could me the manufactures warranty--he does say that they are not old shocks like some sell that break the seals in a month

I got mine almost two years ago and haven't had a single problem. I pop the button on the hatch and move it about 3 inches, and it lifts itself the rest of the way up. One of the best things I ever bought.

I am on my second xj, and both of them had weak struts, to where you lift the hatch, grab the groceries or whatever, and immediately get whacked in the head by the hatch on its way down. That sucked after a few times, so I decided it had to be fixed. Being cheap, I found that there is room to move the strut bracket on the hatch down about half to 5/8 inch, drill new holes in hatch and reinstall bracket. This changes the geometry, giving the strut a little more leverage on the hatch. They work like new now, at the cost of a couple inches of lift. Since I am only 5'10", no problem.

I scored some brand spankin new liftgate struts at the local pick-and-pull.

The hatch was open, waiting for me, with the shiny new struts in place. What a grab, it was like $10 on half price day I think.

On the other hand, my friend uses a krutch to keep his hatch open.
