anybody around milwaukee or surrounding areas???

If you need some shocks to get you by for now I have some good stock length shocks available. Rear shocks also. Let me know.

Kim.

i got a set of stock size shocks, but i really hate doing rear shocks. so i don't wanna have to do it more than once if i can avoid it.

but the priorities just changed. during one of the test drives yesterday, something in the t-case broke, so now it's not driveable anymore. so now i have time before i'll need the shocks again. lol

well if you need help with that t-case I can help you out. I'm a few min south of Chi-town.

not exactly sure where that is, but thanks for the offer. you offering work help, or parts???

it has a 242 in it, but i'm thinking about swaping it out with a 231 for him. if you want, i'll let you know when i'll start working on it, and you can come turn some wrenches, have some drinks and talk jeep.

for now his jeep is going to stay in my garage, and i'm going to completely redo the front axle and steering, swap the t-case and inspect/replace the rear axle. that way he'll have something streetworthy to drive and pick his kids up from school with.

I'm right out side of Chicago

Well I have a 231 that needs a little TLC, are you auto or manual?

as for your blown 242 hold on to it, maybe we can work a deal ;)

If you're around Milwaukee, it's not a far shot to Sun Prairie, where J&L Offroad is located. They can get you the shocks, parts, whatever. Something to consider.
I'm down in IL myself, about 30 minutes NW of Chi-town. I'd give you a hand, but I have three Jeeps of my own to work on, so can't really offer anything. :(
Good ruck to ya!

thanks for the update. i just picked one up this last saturday. except it's out of a YJ, and for some reason i have this feeling that i remember something about the input shaft being a little to long. but i'll make it work.

Pretty sure that the YJ's used a short output shaft from the trans, meaning your output shaft is too long.
Are the 242 and 231 cases similar enough to swap the input gear?
