My dog is sick as hell. It wont eat. and what he does eat he pukes up a few hours later. he is pooping so i think thats ok. He used to be the most lively dog around. 1/2 lab and 1/2 pit. all he does is ly around the house. I was told it can be a numerous amount of things. I dont really have all that money to go to the vet and pay for all the things to find out what it is. just if anyone on here had a problem like this i would love some input. this dog is my baby and my life. I cant lose him. thanks guys

Why'd you get a dog then?

im not asking for any smart ass comments ive had the dog and this has just been starting to happen

It's not a smartass comment, it was an honest question. :twak:

This is a life you're 'concerned' with, not a brake job or lift kit install. You don't solve these things yourself and go to a Jeep forum for a write-up. Sack up and take your dog to the vet.

well one told me it can be numerous things., i dont want to go pay out the ass again to hear that comment from a vet. so i thought id try and ask on here. he said it can be anywhere from heat exhaustion to cancer. and in between there about 20 other things.. i dont want to pay again to hear that, thats all im saying. and ive seen some comments youve posted on here many times so i was just hoping that was not a smartass comment. i apoligize for that.

Not trying to be a smartass here smitty. but take him to a vet. YOU said this dog was your baby. Would you really come on here and ask if it where an actuaul baby?

Agreed, if it could be about 20 other things, how can you possibly expect a Jeep forum to diagnose your dog. Go to the vet, find out what it is, so you can fix it. Thats the whole point. Its not like a Jeep, where a mechanic will tell you the same thing your buddy did and you can fix it yourself. This is a living thing, one which you obviously care somewhat about. Go to the vet.

Make sure it didn't get a hold of rat poison. My dog ate a mouse that had been poisoned and she was puking and poopin. You seen any blood AT ALL, take it to the vet. Make sure its not dehydrated, keep as much water in him as possible.

I'm pretty sure thats why he prefaced the question with "Any Vets on here?"

The membership's expertise isn't limited to only the jeep world. If you aren't using all tools at your disposal, you just aren't trying.:D

my dogs both got sick like that a few months back. only thing they could hold down was water. vet told us nothing useful. four days later they were fine.

good luck with your dog and keep a very close eye on him if you can

ty xj eric someone understands.. and ive taken him to the vet if some of you have read. just dont want to find another dumb vet that just wants my money to tell me "options"

ty youu too ehall

Your probably not going to get much info with just "puking" and "tired". Basically you've got 2 choices, pony up for the visit to the Vet or collect a sample of your dogs chit and take it to the Vet so they can examine it. Its nasty bringing Bag-o-poop to the Vet but its pretty cheap.

Now honestly I agree with ECKSJAY. Dog's aren't cheap to have, properly taking car of your pet is part of the responsibility of owning the animal. Is your dog chipped? Fixed? What about shots?
I'm sure you give your dog a good home. Just sometimes you need to pony up and pay a professional to fix things, regardless of the price.

i got no problems taking a sac of his crap to the vet if it would get me a better answer than what i got from the first. i didnt think of that. ty and ill have to try that

this is him, built like a pit, but personality of a lab. all he wants is a ball or a stick to chase.

Sorry I didn't see that you took him to the Vet. If your Vet didn't give you anything to really go on I would look for a better Vet.
Sometimes you can call them for simple things and they don't usually charge, at least my Vet doesn't.
If your Vet won't take the Bag-o-poop then find yourself a better Vet. Usually I'll have an answer from my Vet in a day or so.

You might want to just feed your dog plain white rice for the next couple of meals. It's bland and shouldn't bother his stomach to much. When my dog get sick, I'll give her that for a day then try a little solid on the second day.

Hey somebody thats worried about their animals is going to go to as many places as possible to get ideas. I feel ya Smitty. Got two dogs of my own. They aren't cheap.

exactly, im showing i do care by taking him to the vet and trying to get better ideas elsewhere. im going to give him just hamburger meat tonight. thats what the vet told me so ill start there atleast and see if hes even interested in it. hes not interested at all in the hard dog food. he will eat anything else but his dog food... changed the food and still wont eat hard food

Another odd thing you can do is photograph the puke. haha yea I know

My dad's dog likes to chew sticks. Well she scratched her colon wall, or something, from swallowing to many splinters. The puke looked funny so I took a pic, brought the camera to the Vet with me. He was examining her and I showed him the pic. Right away he asked if she chewed on sticks.
