Another MJ build thread ...

If you have OBD2 carts for your MT2500, you should be able to plug it in to the WJ.
Could potentially be a TCU/ECU, electical issue as well. Not sure if he has had issues with trans/your problem. But I would message Zachandandy , since he has a V8 ZJ.

I loaned it out, once I get it back I am going to scan it.

It seems like the booster is sort of going out, so it could be the brake booster.

I had thought I filled my zj's tranny correctly after a filter job but ended up being a couple quarts low when I rechecked it. Was doing the same thing as your wj on the highway. Also, maybe the torque converter isn't locking up?

pass side motor mount was shot.
swapped in a brown dog engine side motor mount from the silverback, and a MORE motor mount.

voltage was dropping a lot swapped in a new alternator and that is fixed.

temporarily removed the EGR to help diagnose whether or not the EGR was the problem.
tested a ton of stuff over the last few nights.

ended up adjusting both of the throttle screws a little and cut one down since the TB is bored out.

Since I running the bored out throttle body the bypass screw on the side was too long and the guy who bored it out backed it out and sealed it. Probably just used the throttle plate to adjust it. I adjusted the stop screw like one turn and that bypass screw a lot more after trimming it down and it so far, seems to be idling right at 750 bouncing around hardly at all.

edit:
still has kind of a crappy idle. never mind. better than before but not 100%.

Fixed the idle after a ton of work and went snow wheeling with josh. Makes me want deeper gears in the axles or tcase . And a rear locker. and beadlocks on the mj. And beadlocks on the big red jeep.

Ice house road was alot of just ice . Dont hit your brakes hard unless you want to get sideways.

We were over by barret lake trail:

Lots of soft powder up there

I have a open carrier too and I think a master install kit somewhere?

Just got the 4 new o2 sensors in the mail for the WJ, ordered 2 speed sensors, and then decided to order a tuner.

Hopefully no more shifting to higher gears while trying to drive uphill in the mountains.

You think that will work on my 97

they are vin locked I guess. You would have to buy one, but they might work. did you search their website to see if they would work?

Edit:
looks like the super chips for the XJs start 98-01.

I am basically only buying it to force the thing to hold the gears longer since its downshifting into 4th or 5th gear at like 1800rpms going uphill .

Ive read they are not really worth it for the 4.0. hell it might not be worth it for the 4.7 as far as HP and torque, I just want to program the jeep for tire size, shift points, etc.

Im going to call them to see if I can "tune" my 1998. that will be interesting.

Only thing that 98 needs is a stroker! too bad you sold robs old one .. L

the red 98 mumbo jumbo is having intermittent no starts. just checked fuel pressure and its good once it actually gets started. Sometimes I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it going, but only sometimes , others its fine. Weird.

Spark is blue and crisp looking . I just pulled the throttle body too and cleaned it, and swapped on a spare IAC already swapped in a new TPS. Also cleaned the battery terminals too. I ordered a CPS for piece of mind and I might swap out the battery as well since its not new and has seen a lot of abuse, winching, etc.

just replaced all 4 o2 sensors in the WJ and wired in a new single DIN radio to replace the beat up stock 1.5 DIN, learned how to wire up steering wheel controls, that was interesting.

The Super chips Tuner and all new rear brakes will be here weds so I can swap it all in that night, just in time to drive to truckee for new years. I plan to try the the Tow Settings out, they require 91 octane. interesting to see.

that would be cool. My jeeplikes to stay around 1200 RPM when in moderate speeds. It would be nice if it would wait to downshift

So we can "share" the tuner . One rig can be tuned at a time. But i got this for lisa to help out her wj so not for too long. I plan to track mpg and acceleration in the wj and the xj before and after different tunes.

Adjust your tv cable

So between the 91 octane "Tune" and buying Jeffs old WJ 4.7 cold air intake with a 6x9 K&N, the WJ drives like a whole different jeep . Tons of power now. It used to take some good time to get up to 70mph cruising on the freeway, now it gets there extremely fast, tons of power. pretty sweet. the lady loves driving the WJ ...

I wonder if your stock air box and such was clogged or something.
