Anyone know of a good shop near Sac that could repair the crack, and maybe sleeve the frame rails for me? Is this in a place that most reinforce when they sleeve the frame?

Personally I would go to a body shop. They have the most experience in welding the thin metal.

I'd start by getting a real steering box brace...

...then weld on your panhard bar mount. Next, plate between the SBS and panhard bar mount, then plate the whole bottom. Don't forget to retain all the bolts on the underside of the frame even if they aren't being used for anything. They help hold together all the different layers.

Thanks for the offer Phil.

Jess - Did you forget that is an honest to goodness URF modified CROK brace? ;)

That is definitely all in the plans once I learn to weld including bracing all the frame and a cage. I just want to get this fixed so I can at least feel ok about easy stuff.

How could I remember that?
That was probably 8 years and over 10,000 beers ago. :confused1

HAHA thats funny

A trackbar brace would be better my buddy cracked his in just about the same spot from dropping hard on the right front tire and we herd a pop but couldnt see anything untill he washed it thats when we found it. JKS braces and so welding along with a trackbar brace its been good to go.Also he had a steering brace in at the time.
