Almost build time!!

Sorry I could not come by this weekend, the NAVY kept me too damn busy to get a break and come by. Looks great!!

anyone make extended rear e-brake cables? It looks like when it flexes out somethings gotta give. Man I REALLY wanna drive it! I guess I'll have to satiate myself with putting the alarm and CB in today, till the brown van santa shows up. Where do some people put the CB antennas?

if its not a super long antennae you could make a small bracket that mounts to the fender and goes between it and the hood. Then mount it to that. It'll look fairly oem.

Whats and e-brake for? Get a line lock and use that. I've got a 4.5" spring pack w/ 1.5" shackles on mine and no problems with my e-brake cables binding up. I do need to move my shock mounts further up the axle though, I think w/ the new shackles I'm liable to rip the shocks apart at full flex.

You can try moving the brackets back that hold cables and adjust the nut on the linkage from the lever. Or you could goto the junk yard and start looking at rangers for longer ones that might work.

i would also assume then you could use MJ cables as they are also pedal actuated

good write up though, i'll have to do that myself

Um, I don't think MJ cables would work...... they'd be way to long. YJ cables are almost too long as they are. At least for 4" to 6" lifts, they were about right on the 8" lifted rig I helped build a couple years back.

YES!! Drive Chain and rebuild kit are here! As are the new flex flares. I'm going to start trying to drop the TC tomorrow night round 4:30pm as that's when I get home. Anyone wanna help?

Sweet! I really have no idea where to begin, so any help is awesome! Never did anything with Tranny's, TC's, or any other gears. Always intimidated me.

There is 6 nuts you have to take off the you will have to lower the trans and tcase so you can get the top nut. And there is one behind the trans mount. If you wanna get started I prob be there around 5 or so. Make sure you have some Red RTV and two quarts of ATF. Tcases are pretty simple. You need a pry bar to remove the tcase linkage just pops out. 1/2 in wrench to remove speedo retaining bolt. I will bring the 1 1/8 socket for the yokes. And do you have 9/16 racheting box end wrench? That is what you need for those tcase to trans nuts.

Cross the YJ cables over each other to reduce the slack.

I guess I'll be looking for some YJ cables. The MJ cables were just a thought I had, never did any measuring. Early ZJ cables might be too short, wasn't the wheel base identical for the ZJ and XJ?

anyone have suggestions as to how to get the old sway ar link studs out of the axle side bracket? They're splined torx bolts. i thought they were just torks bolts, but upon closer inspection they're spline studs. Tried the ol BFH, with no luck.
