Again! Wanted...

PS - Josh's shaft won't help you (boy that sounds dirty!) as that's not the part you're looking to replace.

Yep - I already sorted that out. I've got output shafts around here - one from an XJ and another from a TJ, with housings - but neither will help me, either. I've got a spare NP231 and spare NP242 floating around (both from RENIX,) so if I can just get my hands on an early input shaft, then I just need to get the transmission.

Believe me, you DO NOT want the Peugeot I've got in here now - it sounds awful! If you do the swap anytime soon and we can meet halfway, I might take the thing off your hands (if I haven't gotten a suitable replacement yet.)

I finally answered that Craigslist ad that was posted to see if he's still got the gearbox, and I also checked around on Pirate to see if they happened to have either/or/or there as well - no luck yet.

G - you wouldn't happen to have any idea how far forward I could go, would you? Might help with trying to source a replacement part... Failing that, can the whole planetary set be swapped (early sun/planets/cage for late?) If I'm going to take this Peugeot out again, I'd sooner make it the last time, if it can be helped...

Don't know when they changed the gears Jon.

Down here the yards are doing a half off weekend next weekend (Memorial day). It might be worth it to you to hit your yards up if they're having them as well. I picked up my AX-15 and 23 spline 231 at a half off day and paid $50 for the 231 and $55 for the AX-15 plus some core fees.

they changed the t-case gear cut in 94 - so planataries and sun gears from non-era years wont jive well...

Say 5-90, I still have this thing in my drive way:
47b6dd07b3127cce886ca5ae2eb600000016108IasWTVu5aE

seems like no one wants to buy it :eye:

It has a 5 speed something under it, I have not really looked at it, I don't know if any of it will work for ya, and the throw out bearing is gone but it still hookes up really nice. If you want to come pick a part out of it just let me know when, I am around your area, west SJ right near campbel.

What year it am? If it's late 89 or later, it's a definite possibility...

I go back and forth to Cupertino daily anyhow (school) around midday, so we might be able to link up. Failing that, perhaps this week-end? My mother-in-law is coming back, so it's a convenient excuse to get out of the house...

This week is not that good for me, but Sunday or Monday I will be home working on the other junk. That work for you?

I lost interest in the thread half way down but if you still need a BA-10 PM me. I have a good one.

If Letterman has a BA-10 in that 89, I'll get hold of you for a spare. If he doesn't, remind me to let you know...

BTW - I drove by to have a look at the gearbox, but you've got it all backed in with stuff all around it, and I wasn't able to take a "quick look" like I'd have liked. I guess it will be a surprise on Sunday, then. Do you have a transmission jack, or should I bring mine?

bring yours

or just drive that thing home?

Oh, don't tempt me. My wife would give birth to a porcupine, breech presentation, if I brought that thing home! I've got enough projects as it is, what with four XJ's around here in various states of repair...:wow:

She likes the fact that I can fix pretty much anyting, and at least she stopped asking about my bringing stray Jeep parts and Briggs & Stratton engines home a couple years ago... Picked up another Briggs to-day, in fact!

Umm..dude

Putting six Briggs and Strattons under the hood in place of hte 4.0 is not going to get you a faster, more fuel efficent Jeep.

Oh I know - I've got them for making generators, pressure washers, and whatever else strikes me. I just happen to like Briggs engines (and Techumseh, but they're rarer...) and I've just got a funny habit of collecting them wherever possible...

Bryan C. was over last night took a look and said it is the AX15

Also I have to cancel on you this sunday, my wifes flight has changed so we need to work out another time.

Do you have anytime after sunday, I have monday off?

I really think you should just come by one day next week and drive it home, pull all the parts you want off of it and give the rest of it to someone else!!! I don't know what I will do with the thing after it has no drive line.

Hmm... a stripper. I wonder where I could put it...

Does it actually drive and run? Just wondering.

I can come around Monday (about the same time,) or any day next week after class - which is over at 1230, so call it 1300-ish. My transmission has started to behave, with is a sure sign of imminent failure. So, it's just a matter of time.

I wonder who could use a unibody, once I'm done with it? I couldn't keep it around for long... Probably be a roller - unless it's got a rear D44 (probably not...)

It drives great (as long as you don't go over 25mph)

Monday is good, same time is good.

I should have the pink and keys ready for you

Anyone need any doors or a rear hatch?

Stock Bumpers? :gag:
