aero-Kroil sale (buy one king size get one free)

Never heard of it. How does this stuff work versus PB Blaster?

In my personal opinion it is MUCH better then PB. I have been using it for a few years and it penetrates like Ron Jeremy. Nuff said.

Cheeseman-OUT!

Yeah just make sure they send the freebies.. i ordered last week 2 cases.. 16.5 oz cans and asked for 2 free cans.. they said no prob and then didn't send me any... grrr! thats ok still an amazing product!

Really? Can't ship to a home address? (I haven't had a chance to order it yet myself).

Eh, either I will have it shipped to my fathers business or I will make up a business name :D This could be fun...

Thanks for the link, the stuff is great & needed some more.

I learned about it quite a few years ago when working with some machinists rebuilding a turbine generator. They were using it to loosen up the massive bolts on the steam jacket. They heated them red hot with an induction heater, then sprayed them with Kroil, said they don't use anything else.

hmmmm... I can't find my pb-blaster. I guess I'll call my company "Mickey Mouse Fabrication Inc." as that aspersion has been cast upon some of my less thought out ideas in AdvFab :spin1:

They probably just want a business address to avoid shipping issues.

ALL PRODUCTS PRODUCED AND DISTRIBUTED BY KANOLABS ARE FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY AND ARE NOT INTENDED FOR RETAIL SALE, PERSONAL OR CONSUMER USE.

I mentioned this in another thread, but no one believes it. Right off their website. I think it's a bit foolish, but some companies don't like to bother with retail or distro center folks.

Fortunately, the family does operate a small business, and I'm industrious at times, so that's close enough in my book.

So I heard that Fastenal might carry this stuff... apparently not around my house :(

Anyone know what types of chain stores might carry it? I am ordering some online but I want to pick up a smaller can for this weekend; I am most likely dropping the gas tank this so I need it ASAP and want to try this stuff out.

Anyone know any other stores that might sell this?

for the J-bolts? screw those darn things, saw em in half. funjeepsparts.com has them (J3240023 is the part number) for $1.92 each and then all you need is some ultra cheap nylocks and washers at home depot.

But ordering parts online takes time, and I don't have very much time between now and tomorrow

I never even really looked into what it takes to drop the tank. I remember doing it on my buddies exploder, but I never had to do it myself. I would rather salvage the parts and re-use them... not even sure what you mean about J-bolts, Probably something I will learn of when I actually get under and start working.

I just dont want to break any bolts off in the back there. It will probably happen but I want to spend as much time working on the floors and as little time drilling out bolts as possible.

Oh will you ever learn... :D

J-bolts are exactly what they sound like - a long bolt with the head bent at a 90 degree angle. They hook into keyholes in the side of the shock absorber crossmember. The straps holding the gas tank in place are held on by them using nylock nuts - threaded about 3-4 inches onto the (probably rusty) J-bolts. Because of where the strap is, it's difficult to get a wrench on them very well. Because of them being nylock nuts, and rusty, it takes forever to remove them... because of the fact that they're hanging in a keyhole, they'll swivel about 20-30 degrees back and forth while you're trying to undo them unless you use a pair of vise grips on the shank with the other hand. I salvaged one (cut the strap at the junkyard and removed the nut while it was in a vise on my bench) and made another, which was extremely sketchy. Replaced it when I got my new bolts from funjeepsparts.
