A few beadlock questions for MWC guys.

Ok guys, I am looking into a set of weld-on B/L's after the begining of the year. My task is for you MWC guys to throw out some opinions on whether I should be going w/ 8 or 10" rims. I have ran both and currently have 10"s, but I have a set of 8" available. I am running 33x12.5 TSL's and have thoughts of moving up to 35's after these wear out. I have been looking into Rough Stuff's b/l kit and it seems priced reasonable, and he is a supporter of the site/club. If you guys would throw in a few opinions on what you have or are running and the pros and cons, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I have a few questions now. You all say 8 inch wheels but I don't understand why. I thought you would want to run 10 inch wheel because the sidewall doesn't stick out as much. I am going full width and I am going to buy wheels but if eight inch wide is better I will do that. I have been looking at nothing but 10 inch wheels.

Thanks,

Brian

cause weld-on beadlocks add 1"-2" to the width. just based on where the bead used to seat and where it is now clamped.

I'd go with the 8's also. A 10" wide wheel with added beadlocks running a 12.5" tire, would put very little load on the inner bead, making it vunerable to losing it's seal at low PSI.

I put mine on 7" wheels because it's what I had, that's with 33x13.5 LTB's.

Oh yeah, I got mine from Ruff Stuff. No compaints, except for the number of bolts maybe. 39 per wheel is way overkill, I think his normally come with 32 holes for 15" wheels. I guess there was a run that got 39 per when I ordered mine.

what tires are you going to run? For any 12.5" wide tire, I wouldn't run more than an 8" rim.

Some sidewall bulge is good, and as previously stated, the narrower wheel will help keep the bead(s) on the rim.

i found a set of swampers on 16.5x10 wheels that are 12.5 inches wide(tires).

don't plan on airing them down then, I lost beads like crazy with 8" rims and 9.5" wide swmpers.
Even with the 15x7's I wish I had 15x6's.

Yep. Narrower tends to work better. I love my 34x10.5 on 15x7s; I can air down to ~10 and I haven't lost a bead yet.

thanks i will go 16x10
