99 XJ seat

Does anyone know where to get XJ seats for a 99. drivers side. All but 2 welds popped and it is sagging quite bad. Tried my local junk yard (Sussex County, New Jersey). They said I'd be hard pressed to find something that new in their junk yards. HELP!!!!!

Weld It

My seat on my DD did that from many miles of carrying my 300 lb carcass around. I just pulled mine out, peeled back the upholstery, took some 1 inch angle iron and had my friend weld it to the back in several places to reinforce it. Has been working great for several months. IMHO, that is the way to go if you have the resources.

That is actually what I did two weekends ago, pulled it completely apart down to just the bottom frame.. My welding didn't hold up. Of course, I only tried welding back together what was there. And I used my 110 welder.. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. But the support frame is so bent(250lb load) that I think it would be easier to get a new frame/seat.

I had mine done back last year buy a local upholstery shop in allentown pa, charged me $50 cash, had it done from when I dropped it off at 9am and picked it up during lunch and he also repacked the seat for me with new foam. Rides really nice now and he also mentioned how bad the welds were, said he repaired a bunch of them and it showed.

Boy does this sound familiar.. I am 6'5",340 and have had the same issues.. I did fix my 97's that I have now.. I straighten,the bent frame section and teh metal that ripped, rewelded it (110 welder works fine when I was doing upholsthery) and then, made a second bracket that went straight down from teh broken area to the tab for the inside rear bolt mount (stud) and bracedit there, so far its been awesome and I have never felt one feel so comfortable agin.. on my 96... I put in a short console, and made plates to go on my 96 tracks and dropped in a commanche bench seat I reecovered... that was soooooooooooooo nice

What's the name of the shop in Allentown? That's only an 1&1/2 hours away. Would be worth talking to them.
