98 XJ Vacuum Canister

I'm currently replacing the front bumper on my 98 XJ. I've suspected I have a bit of a vacuum leak (cruise control can't keep up under heavy load, sometimes the A/C switches to defrost), so I figured I might as well replace the vacuum canister behind the bumper while I have it off.

I searched around and couldn't find the right part online. I ended up buying this http://a.co/cXIFg3Y (Dorman 47077) because it came up when I did a google search of "98 XJ vacuum canister" and looked very similar to the one I took off. However, once it arrived I realized it was actually much bigger, see the size comparison (New Left, Original Right):

Does anyone know where I can get the original vacuum canister, what is the part number? I am struggling to find it.

Alternatively, the vacuum canisters look like they have the same input/output, would there be any problem using the bigger canister? It seems like it would provide more reserve vacuum during heavy load and might help address my problem; am I missing anything?

Should be no problem using the larger ball, assuming it fits.

Replace the check valves in the lines. That's what keeps your vents from defaulting during extended load.

Is that a pain in the rear to do?

The hard part is finding it/them. Other than that make sure it is pointed the correct direction when reinstalling.

Aren't there only 2 or 3 check valves? And no they are not difficult at all, just be careful with the lines to the intake.

I'd be looking for compromised lines. Those balls rarely fail.
