good luck with it at 10k

You have to remember that underneath it all, it's still a cherokee and bluebook is nowhere near your asking price. If you want to get that much money out of it your best bet is to part it out. It is a good looking jeep though, good luck with the sale. For comparison mine is outfitted much like yours (all of your mods plus), but with an 8.8, disc rear brakes, hydro winch, snorkle, Banks Header, custom exhaust, and I wouldn't expect to get over $3500.

Ya good luck with $8k too especially in this economy. I don't see what makes it worth that price. 6" on 33's? alumibend steering. RK is great, bumpers great, skids, 4.56's, D44. Its built like most jeeps. nothing special to increase the price so high. . . unless you didn't do the work so you think that makes the price higher.:dunno:

Thanks guys I obviously didn't look at it that way and what you're saying makes sense. I looked at all the $$ I put into it and no I didn't do the work myself so it seems like it's worth more to me. Just need the money.

I know the feeling:(, after dumping all of that money into it you'd think It'd be worth more. It is, but just a bit more than the blue book. The truth is that a jeep isn't a wise "investment", but just a fun hobby. Good luck with the sale though, and I hope your money problems get cleared up. Like I said, if money is all you need and are concerned about you've got waay more money in parts to sell, put stock junk back on and sell the jeep for ~$3500 sell the axles complete and built, and sell the wheels and tires. Be warned though, the wheels and tires will only bring 5-600, the bumpers will bring 2-300, the axles will bring 500-900 rear and 300-700 front. The springs will bring a couple hundred as a set and your longarms are stuck on the jeep since the stock brackets were removed during installation.

Parting it out looks like the best option but unfortunately not doable for me, I don’t have the place, tools, and know-how, which explains me having someone else do all the work. (I’m not a guy). Selling it cheap isn’t that great of an option but it is an option, but I’ll figure something out. Thanks for all the advice you two it’s appreciated.

Just make people pull their own parts off it, and you not being a guy doesn't mean you can't learn. But it does explain why you didn't get mad at my remarks:laugh3:

Sandy,

Don't buy into these guys BS.. Since I built the rig I know it's stout.. If I had the money it's be sitting in my driveway already..

Dave

I wish I could buy it. I would enjoy having a nice XJ like this. I already have one that I can beat into peices. Good luck with the sale. I hope you are posting this sale on craigslist, autotrader, yahoo, etc.....

have a good one, Andrew

I agree with Dave, Sandy. Your rig is super clean and uber-capable. $10k was too high, but you already knew that. I think $8k asking price is fair, but probably right around the $7k range is what you'll be able to fetch.

Good luck.

If I had $8000 I would buy it. It would be cheaper to buy it from you then go out and build one. Plus knowing dave worked on it makes it worth more.

It's a good deal for someone who wouldnt install everything themselves. There are a lot of people out there that like to buy pre-built rigs.

I'm not one of them, but I know some that do.

I had the XJ in Auto Trader for about 6 months. It was listed at $10,500. Two different guys came to look at it but both said it was too “radical” for them and wanted to have fun but wanted more of a daily driver. I bought one of the “list till it sells” auto trader ads but they don’t tell you that you have to go in and renew the ad every so often so they took it out, otherwise I’d just lower the price in the ad. I can still list it again though. I also had it in Craigs List for 9K and no one contacted me.
The idea about having people come and part it out as they buy the parts is a good idea, but if/when I lose my house that’s another thing in the garage I’ll have to figure out what to do with.
The most desirable solution is just to wheel it and see what’s left when it’s time for it to go :o) But it’s not registered or insured so I can’t take it on the street to get to the trails right now.
Thanks Dave I was hoping you’d show up

Honest opiinion form some one who has sold lots of cars for more then book.

Pictures are your friend. Take as many high res pictures you can. Nice pictures make the potential owner get a feel of interior and how it would feel to own the car.
