96 xj sport 5.3 swap

pulled the transfer case today and installed the input seal in the adapter, i also decided to use the clocked up position since i didnt like how low the front yoke was.

re installed it all, when for a spin and i now seem to have 2nd as well. idk what the hell is going on with it.

and now for some reason it start missing and just randomly dies, i think theres a broken wire somewhere among the back to coils but its not even throwing a code

i think im also going to replace the tps cause every now and then the tourque app will read .4% open when i know the throttle is closed

yup, thats what thise orange blobs are :)

so now that the trans seems to be shifting, im going to move int9 buttoning things up, im going to start building tge exhaust pretty soon, i also think im going to go ahead and tackle the emisions equipment as well, then once this things on the road as a dd again ill start working on the a/c

ordered a novak cable shifter and a new engine side coil harness, i think i have a broken wire somewhere between the solder joints and the plug thats causing it to sputter and die everytime i touch the harness

also going to order drive shafts tonight when i get home

idk what the hell is going on with it.
Haha! Motor swaps man. Gotta love 'em. Just stick with it, all the issues arise once you get them running. The hard part is working out the kinks.

no kidding, i have no idea how the trans fixed it self but i hope it stays that way.

also im curious how you set up your A/C. clydefrog, i want to set mine up pretty soon, winter dont last here very long.

anywho, cleaned all the junk/excess parts out of the cab, pulled the OE trans shifter cable, pulled the brake cable for the ignition after removing the brake lock, sealed the hole for the new shifter lever that pokes through the floor. re installed the cowl and windshield wipers, measured for and ordered some adams drive shafts.

also i think my center console is now destroyed so i think ill switch to a 97+ when i get the chance so i can have less ghetto cup holders

i have the compressor yhat canlme with the motor that i have every intention of using and i left the a/c in the tune.

i likely wont takle it untill feb when it starts warming up. im more focused on getting it back on the road

in other news i should have a new ac delco tos installed tonight, still waiting on all my other parts to come in.

I custom made all my hoses with an inline pressure switch and a generic drier. I used a factory xj condenser and evaporator, along with a stock expansion valve. Everything else is custom. I bought this kit to build my lines (also came with the drier and switch) and had them crimped at a local radiator repair shop:

@ $105 it was a pretty good deal. Spent another $60 to have the lines crimped.

what did you do for the compressor fitting?
I used a generic Sanden compressor and used the fittings from the kit. Also, i did not use the receiver drier in the kit, I used one from a mid '90's XJ.

On the factory compressor for OBA I haven't even hooked it up yet (it has power and my tank and all the fitting for air are installed its just not connected to the dist block under the hood). I know that coldhose.com sells a connector for the factory gm compressor but its like $80 plus.....

The pics are somewhat bad but here is the jist. You can see the compressor on posts: #2, #7 and #51. These are old and its hard to tell, I promise I will snap some pics of it tonight for you.
