96 motor in a 88 xj

I have acces to a 96 xj that was hit in the rear. I own a 88 xj, can I just drop in the motor and hook everything up or do I need the computer and other stuff off the 96?

you will definitely need all the wiring for the 96 engine.

what about just using the head? I want to convert to a HO motor.
