The wife was driving home the other day and the "check engine" light came on. She said the truck felt like she'd hooked on to a large trailer. Now it won't start. Any ideas? TIA
She drove about 10 miles. Engine spins over and tries to start (sputters). Fluids are all fine, temp was never over normal.
Has spark and fuel.
This is the 32 valve version of the V6, could the cam belts have jumped timing?
Yeah, it could be a jumped belt, depending on the engine design. Modern belts in my experience are robust enough and have so much 'wrap' around their pulleys that they won't jump, just break outright.
However, if there's a central tensioner between the two pairs of cams, failure of the tensioner might allow belt jumping, or at least very bad timing on one bank.
