5-90,
Thanks, I'll contact the local AutoZone and Murray's as I know they have this line of parts. I did contact the dealer and they want $38 for the turn signal indicator socket. It seemed a bit steep at the time but this is not even a tank of gas today!
Rick
Good luck.
I have found, however, that you'd be well advised (as I advise so often...) to find a smallish local parts house or a "short chain" (the outfit I deal with regularly has three stores...) for a couple of simple reasons -
1) They tend to pay their people a little better. "You get what you pay for" is certainly true of countermen! I wasted three and a half years ag Kragen's, and I think most of their competent people left when I did... I knew a total of FOUR in the county who had actually handled wrenches - either professionally or as a hobby...
2) They'll not have so many restrictions upon who they order from, and will therefore have more available (just not instantly.) Most of the warehouses will probably still be local - when I order something from the local, I'll have it later that day if I order before 1500...
3) Find a shop you like, and send them business. Make sure they know it's you (don't be overt about it, but don't be quiet, either.) You'll probably find that your own pricing gets steadily better. I get jobber at both the local dealership (long-term association) and my local (sending them LOTS of business!) "Jobber" is, respectively, "cost + 5%" and "cost + 10%." They've got to make some money, but it's also nice to know that they're being nice to me. I like to think I've earned it...
Just because a shop is small, doesn't mean they can't get you what you need. They just might not have it on the shelf... If you can wait a day, your patience will be rewarded!
