My brothers 89 mustang 5.0 5speed has a no spark condition.Things we've checked:
ignition switch:good
fuseable links:good
fuel pressure/pump:good
injectors are firing
dist and TFI module:brand new
map sensor(not related) brand new
plug wires:brand new
cap and rotor:brand new
coil:brand new
NSS switch:good because the starter turns over(manual transmission)
This problem started after he hooked up a accel 300 ignition system complete with new wires, accel distributor(with new TFI) and coil but We hooked back up the factory system to rule out bad accel components and still no spark.
The way it happened kind of acted like the ignition switch went bad because the car was idleing and then just shut off....let it set for a few minuets and it started up.Then a day later he was driving and it shut off and won't restart, had to be towed home.
I am thinking that if the injectors are firing(I verified they are) that the computer is most likely not the culprit....or is it???
I Have disconnected the coil wire from the cap and turned motor over and witnessed no spark at all.
There is no CPS on these mustangs is there?
Where is the eec relay at?If that was bad the computer wouldn't work at all, right?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
