'89 guage swap ?

I searched around a bit and would just like to verify that I need a pre-1990 cluster. Mine's got guages instead of idiot lights, but a huge gas guage and no tach. I got the day off so I might as well go j/y shopping right?

I have an '89 with the idiot light dash. After driving my last XJ Sport, I miss the full guage cluster. I was considering aftermarket guages (had a voltmeter guage sitting around), but was wanting something a little easier than running wiring for three or four guages.

My question is will I need to change any of my sensors? On my pickup, I had to change my oil sending unit from one that would only read on/off, for one that had variable voltage for the guage. Is it the same way with the XJ?

From what I understand, you should only have to change the oil pressure sensor. Haven't done it, so I can't say for sure.

Easiest mod ever. There's 2 electric/electronic plugs and the speedo cable on the back of the cluster. Couple screws holding it to the dash. Not sure about the oil pressure sender, mine don't work. This is the first vehicle I've ever owned without a tach, glad to have one again.
