Rather than invest money into my 8.25 I've decided to go ahead and weld it and run this setup for the summer at least...
Having said that I have no clue what the heck to do... It is far beyond my understanding and I accept that (for now).

I'm sure it doesn't take a long time to do so I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of where to find a basic knowledge of what to do. I have a welder and depending on how hot the weld needs to be I may or may not be able to get this done on my little welder.

what kind/size welder do you have, i have welded a couple with my lincoln 110 mig, its a 125 model, the bigest 110 you can get at lowes, and i never had any trouble with any of them, the way i do mine is weld the spider gears together in the corners, where they meet, then i weld the spiders to the carrier, basically making one big chunk of weld/spiders/and carrier, im most likely doing my 8.25 this weekend, and i can take pics as i go if you want:smoker:

you got a welder, eh?? ;)

We weled my buddies D44 last fall and he wheeled it fine for the fall/winter, but his new girlfirend started to daily drive it and just this week blew the spiders up in it. If your going to daily drive your rig, I would think twice about welding it. Others will have varied opinions on this, but it is just my $.02

This XJ is coming off the roads in the next couple weeks. My wife wants a stocker and not to mention... well I went off roading tonight and things got a little crazy... well I'll post some photos but I don't think the Jeep will be seeing the road for awhile :(

Heck yes take photos! :smootch:
jk

just get you a mini spool for that thing and be done with it. I know blake ran one with no problems in his dana44. Besides, you can put one in and if you ever decide to get a lunch box or something, you can take it back out with out messing up your carrier.
