60MM Bored Throttle Bodies

What would your advice be for these? You trade in your old throttle body and $100 and you new a revamped and bored one. Would this help airflow only or would it also use more gas? In high altitude that could make a big of difference for me. But gas milage is first for me right now.

Get a 62mm one(the size of the hole on the intake manifold). If you already have a freer flowing intake and better exhaust, it'll complement them. Better throttle response--the pedal will be more touchy, but you'll have better control and might use less pedal if you don't develop the habit to push it more.

So overall you would say it is worth it moneywise? Honestly if it is not the same or better mileage I don't want it. But if it helps the engine enough to make it better then YEAH! Do you think it will increase or decrease if I drive normally? Which is not terribly fast at all. Average. For a 19 year old with a Cherokee that seems to be rare from what I see around me lol

Your engine computer compensates for altitude and I don't think that altitude has any effect either way. With a bored TB you get improved throttle response from a dead stop, with the AW-4 the engine pulls to a higher RPM before it shifts and it will downshift more quickly when you stomp on the gas pedal. And speaking of stomping on the gas pedal, if you can avoid doing that all the time, you gas MPG will stay the same. You will get the best results from a bored TB with a cat-back exhaust and a K&N style air filter. Altogether you will have a few more HP and maybe add a tiny bit of MPG.

So far I have the K&N but no TB or Catback although I am very interested in both. And the altitude does matter because the air is thinner. MUCH thinner. The computer compensates by using less gas since it is a ratio but you still get less power overall and need more pedal. Which is why I ask if this will increase the ratio or just let more volume of the same mixture through more easily

You can at least practice bore a junkyarder for very little $... DIY

Spoon you can bore your throttle body out yourself. If you open the throttle and look down past it you will see how the factory necked down the throttle body. You can search on how to do it but basically you buy a new base gasket and a drum sander and sand the ridge of the body down. You need a few torx bits and some carb cleaner to clean it up. Quick easy afternoon project and it helps it out some. It won't be as big as a 62 mm but it will be cheap. Cheap is good!

I believe stock is 60mm that tapers to 58mm. A lot of machinist just bore out the taper. The most it can be bored out is 63mm, but you would(should) have to bore out the hole in the manifold to 63mm as well.
