Has anyone put 6.5" speakers in the front doors currently i have 5.25" Alpine S and i wanna run 6.5'' Alpine type R components and i am wondering if any one has installed 6.5" speakers. If you have pics are helpful to me :)

The 6.5" speakers will fit just fine. You'll just have to drill some new mounting holes.

I've got a set of Infinity Reference 6012i speakers in my 2000 that I am pretty sure just screwed right in - it was a while ago but I don't remember having to drill at all.

the newer cherokee's have 6.5's and the older ones have 5.25's. A six will fit the older ones no prob I have dont it many times if you have cranks the hard part is the grill find a speaker with a thin grill like a eclipse, exile , some kenwoods, and some pioneers as well this is a few I know. have been doing car audio for 11yrs. I can take pics of mine next weekend as my jeep is parked a little ways a way to do a move I am doing.

i did this. the system has since been taken out. let me see if i can find my pictures. will post back later.

i have boston acoustic pro 60's which are 6.5" in late model and those took some woork to get in . hadto cut the door panel and use spacers. check your mounting depth thats what screwed me.

works better with thin speakers, but is easy to do.

How big of a spacer did you need to use?

about 1/2 inch min. the magnet on the components are extremely large/heavy however just before the bostons i had some rockford components that fit perfect.

A 6" speaker or 6.5" speaker will fit no problem? I saw Kicker made some 6" and was thinking about going with those in the front.

I've got infinity kappa 6.5's in my front doors. I had to rotate them about 15* and drill new holes, but they worked fine.

Not sure how fitment would be if i had window glass or a window crank ... my jeep didnt come with anything that fancy.

Here are some shots of my Polk Audio 6.5" speakers. They fit fine, but you need to drill out the holes. Easy if you have a drill and drill bit. It's a bitch if you don't.

And yes, the stock covers fit nicely over the speakers.

Do you have the rectangular stock cover? Seems as if this would block a lot of the sound.
