5 hour layover

Should we count Space A?

I spent 8 hours in Denver, 15 in Chicago, 4 in DC and Finally made it to Greensboro NC. Yes that was all one trip. Plane broke in Denver and DC and thunderstorms caught me in Chicago. What a Trip.

I was in phoenix for 3 or 4 hours. I think they have these long layovers to get people to spend more money on the keyosks and shops in there.

I have been stuck in Detroit for 8 hours before. It sucks. I was there when they were redoing the northwest terminal, summer no air conditioning.

Overnight at Charlotte, NC, when the TSA went home and shut the checkpoints down at 9pm when I went outside for a smoke. I was with about 100 other very irritated smokers. The TSA agent never mentioned the closing time when I asked if I had time to step outside either. Turned a 3 hour wait into 19 hours.

Spend some time at the bar?

I did and met this nice young lady. She lives 5 hours away from me though :smsoap: haha but such is life. I am back because she had to make her flight.

You at Station Sault Ste. Marie? Know an MK3 Randall up there?

I am sure I have seen him, I work at the ESD right next to the station. I don't know him off the top of my head though.

3 hour layover in JFK on the way down to Tampa, and then stranded overnight in JFK on the way back. It was a few years ago, i was 14, and my first time flying alone.

I was stranded for 2 days somewhere down south when i was real young, I remember us renting a car to get back to NY because no flights were going in or out.

48 hours in Kuwait waiting to go on R&R. Didn't care though, nobody shot at me in Kuwait.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the 5 days spent on waiting on the LZ (minus a few hours for sleep) waiting for a bird that wasn't already full to get on. Picked the worst time to go on leave. At the beginning of the "surge" in '07 they forgot to request an additional aviation battalion to support all the extra troops. It was fixed by the time I got back of course.

Hey! I'll be there in a few weeks!

They're shutting the base there down from what I understand.

Yeah, Russia wants us out of there, so they are reportedly paying Kyrgyzstan billions of dollars to kick us out. I guess nothing is finalized, but it isn't looking good for us. We used to have a nice setup in Uzbekistan (again, sp? too lazy to look it up now), K2...but we got forced out of there real quick. Manas Airbase is pretty nice though, maybe you'll get stuck there for a few days :D

You headed to Bagram or a FOB?

3 days at Rhein Mein waiting for a space A flight to Torrejon.
4 days in Rhein Mein! Ha! Beat you! The kicker is, I wasn't waiting space A. I had a seat on a plane that didn't take off (fuel leak)at the beginning of December, when EVERYONE was leaving Europe on leave. It's amazing how one 747 load of passengers can snarl up the works when the system's operating at capacity.

It's sad they shut down Rhein Mein AB.....from what I heard, it was a nice place....not Spangdalhelm, but better than Ramstein....

lol, I wish. COP. Just my company surrounded by a town of unfriendly Afghani's and poppy fields. And it just got built recently so no hard structures. Just tents and 4 showers for ~100 guys. It's going to be a blast.

Forgive my ignorance of Army acronyms but - Close Operations Patrol? COP to USAF is a lot of other things :D
