Hey all,

I'm moving to Hilton Head, SC in 2 days for the Summer. Last week I finished up the RE hack n tap and CV driveshaft, then put all my tools in storage. I ordered some shims to help with the pinion angle, but FED EX lost the darn things. THey were supposed to be here last week, but they are still lost.

TO make a long story short, I won't be able to shim the axle before I move. I won't be able to work on the xj down there, as I'm living/working at a resort. Does anybody know of a shop near Hilton Head/Charleston area that could do the work for me. Normally I'd do it myself, but like I said...no workin on jeep in parking lot allowed.

Thanks
RIck

I do not know of one down there but with the base in Savanah I'd say that is your best bet. Maybe Beaufort, SC. If you feel ike a ride north my place is always open. when you figure out what your schedule is like let me know maybe you could escape for a day and do some wheeling. And you will want to escape b4 the summer is done! :laugh2:

Thanks man, I'll keep that in mind!

So far, no luck on shimming the axle....how bad would it be to make a 400 mile drive with vibes above 60 and between 28-32 mph?

Depends on your nerves! When you leaveing to go down there and what route you taking? You have the shimms yet or looking for some?

I ordered some shims (I guessed at 2 degrees) and got fed ex to ship em in 3 days so I would have them this past friday. however, the package got lost, and have not shown up yet. I'm moving in the morning, so I called RE to cancel the order and I'd reorder them when i get settled in.

It looks like i'm gonna be making the trip vibing!

I'm coming down I 81 in VA to I77 to Columbia, I 26 to I95 to Hilton Head.

Have a safe trip. There might be a 4 wheel parts in Savannah but like I said not sure. It's been a while since I was down there. Good luck and hope to see you some time while you are in the area.

In Charlotte, shortly off I-77 is Tarheel 4WD Center. They can probably get some shims in there, they close at 6:00 though.

Our store hours are
9-6 Mon-Fri and 9-3 Sat.
