4.7L Jeep Stroker

Just looked at the MPS site and the $3700 motor only gains 15hp with 45 more ft.lbs. of torque over stock? For the same price the golen 4.6 puts down 270 hp and 320 ft.lbs of torque! I know which way I would go!

the golen 4.6 Claims it puts down 270 hp and 320 ft.lbs of torque

I'm sure alot of the difference (if any) is from air and fuel delivery. Which would be unrelated on a long block but looks pretty for website advertising.
The 4.7 has more displacement and will have a little more power it's up to you how you feed it.

My buddy runs a Golen and Its a nice motor. Nice enough to blow up 2 sets of Yukons. I am blaming that on his right foot though! I figure with 24lb. injectors and a 99+ intake and may be a little polishing on the head and it will make every bit of that. With the setup that Golen lists on the site those are the numbers they got.

Edit: Forgot about the cam that's probably a part of it too.

Well Mopar is probably looking at an OEM fed engine. While golen is using stats with a TB, intake, Injectors, and head work. I'm sure there's some padding in there. "well the buyer could put a tornado in there and they claim it adds 9hp lets add that to the number". or "The ebay e-superchargerturbo says it will add this much power to our stroker lets list that".

I'm not saying they arn't good engines I'm just saying 4.7>4.6 with the same induction.
Saying "nice motor...nice enough to blow up 2 sets of yukons." doesnt mean much. You could lift the wrong cheek when you fart and tear up a d35.

That was a Joke for Brendan when he sees this thread! And he runs an 8.8 not a D35!

i guess ignorance is bliss

you can build a sbm just as cheaply, with as much power and just as reliable as a sbc. just because something is popular just means there is alot of sheep

There are some nice SBC builds on here. Have you seen John D's rig? Its not that fact that its a 318 its the fact that a Chevy motor just fits better than a 318/360. I would rather do a stroker and keep most of the guess work of an engine swap out. Then again, I am happy with having a straight six and I don't need a ton of power over stock to be happy. It also keeps part breakage down running a nearly stock engine and using common sense. I do have a motor to build up if i do decide to do a stroker(thats what she said)!

ya im not saying a sbc is a bad engine, im just saying people who say it is the only and best option piss me off. a sbm is something like 1.75 inch narrower at the valve cover then a sbc. also a sbm is a high nickle block, something only shebby only dose in their high end race engine. something that no one seems to mention is the magnum (94+) have 2 style engine mounts. the same as the old la block as well as 4 screw holes much like the 4.0 use. so making engine mounts easier. also it has a roller cam factory

with this said i have considered doing a ls swap. only because it has a aluminum block. if mopar had one as prevalent i would use that instead

Leaning towards having a local shop build me a 4.6L now. Should be interesting.

Anyone know what it takes to switch from a 0331 to a 0630 or 7120 head. From what I can find it sounds like you just need to modify something to mount up the coil ignition rail to the new head...

I could've sworn I responded to this already: erector style straps to hold the coil rail in place, 91-98 header to cover the larger ports in the head you choose, and leave the temp sensor for the dash gauge unplugged on ds rear corner if you go with a 7120 or early 0630. You might find it easier to spend $369-400 for the improved casting 0331 than going through the trouble of putting the earlier head on.

Where do you get an improved 0331 casting from? You did respond already haha in OEM.

Alabama Cylinder Heads makes a beefed up 0331. Extra material sits between #3 and 4 cylinder where it is prone to crack... $550.00

Decided after much deliberation to give Titan a try. Having a shop install a 4.9L stroker monster. Hopefully it all works out well.

You know I've heard a lot of good things about them and some bad things. Overall it sounds like they've cleaned their act up. Bottom line is they have a warranty and the best shop in town who builds strokers doesn't. So we'll see what happens.

ATK, Mopar, Golen, Hesco, I'm pretty they all have warranties and better reputations than Titan. I think the Mopar one is covered almost like a new car warranty.

If I were going to buy one instead of building another I would Look to ATK. I anted one for my street MJ, but I am starting to lean towards an LSx since it is 2wd.
