4.7L Jeep Stroker

Mind showing where they said that about the Hemi? I thought it was interesting that the AW4, which is good for 200k+ miles on a 190hp I-6 should be replaced with a TH350 or 700R4, the latter of which couldn't stand up behind 170hp 350ci SCB's or 130hp 6.2l diesel's V-8's in GM's trucks as long:wow:

Been a while since I read it, but I thought I remembered that on their page they spend a portion of the article talking about selecting a motor for the transplant. Parts selection and costs were two good reasons and better performance. LSx is the way to go.

My brother talked to Zach(505) today and this rollerized mopar stroker built by atk was news to him, so I guess someone else is making roller cams. Someone needs to probe atk. . .

If actually read the article, they explain why they didn't do it with a hemi, and with great reasoning.

But if they did it with a Hemi it would be so much more awesome, some would rather do it the hard way rather than taking the easy route for greater satisfaction. Me personally... I'd rather have a Hemi in a Jeep or any vehicle for that matter.

Why is a Hemi "so much more awesome"?
because its not a gm pos that every body and their entire family uses to repower every thing (i hate gm for that reason btw)

BMyohns Golen was only 4000! 7200 for an engine is insane!

ATK's base 4.7 off a 91-98 block is $2800, $3150 w/RRs. Rebadged as a mopar, the same ATK built engine is $3700. Throw in the rollercam w/ valvetrain, and that price jumps to $6170! I think I could build a full roller setup w/ forged rods and pistons for about half that(just wouldn't have a 3yr-36K warranty).

so you would rather pay more for something that is less reliable and makes less power without a lot more work?

And that is a crazy price for a stroker that is just rebadged.

I hate "GM Repowers" as much as anyone else... the TH350s and 700R4s can be built to take dang near anything. Try finding parts like that for our AW4s... there just isn't a lot of aftermarket that I've seen. Maybe some guys in the toyota circles could help us out, but I dunno. I prefer to jam my own gears.

The mopar Hemi is cool, but it's just too politically correct comparted to the rip-snorting engines of bygone days. It idles smooth as butter, it'll putter your mother in law around town, and in everything I've driven (ex mopar dealer employee) they sound like a vaccum cleaner. Except the pickups, or where the customer put a decent exhaust on. Then sounds range from pretty nice to downright evil with a big ol cam and straights/no cats (o2 sims are wonderful).

Unless I'm missing something, I see nothing in writing on MPS website that specifies any warranty at all, let alone a 3 year 100k mile warranty!

Again I ask, where does it say anything on the MPS website about a warranty?
