I can comment first hand on wheeling 35's on a D35. It comes down to a couple of factors. The most important being driver skill. While I am definitely not "Offroad God", I know the limits of the equipment I run. Secondly, a D35 will hold up better with lower gearing. The initial torque stress of higher (read: 3.73+) will put a more sufficient torque demand on the R&P, which, IMO is the weakest initial link in the D35. Oh yeah, shaft diameter is pretty poor also.
