looking to buy an 86 comanche with a blown (shocking) 2.8L motor and swap in a 4.0L and ax-15 combo.
looks like some firewall masaging will be in order as well as some custom motor mount, mounts
of course the new engine will be complete with the newer cooling system, computer, complete wiring harness, and everything under the hood from the donor vehicle pretty much. Im looking to go with a 90-95 engine
i have heard that due to the complications - one person actualy swaped the entire front clip - body and all after deciding that would be easier...
anyone have an sucess with just swaping the motor in?
any pointers? im figuring out what the work load will be to get this comanche running again, and comparing that to the cost of a decently running comanche.
of course the work will all be done by me and my own busted knuckles...
the asking price of the comanche with the blown 2.8L, rebuilt ax-5, and otherwise complete is $750 -
im tinking that i can get it for $500, sell the ax-5 for $300 and be only $200 into it - then get a rear end wreck cherokee for like $500, sell both the axles and the t-case for the $500 and have a free engine...
anyway - am i dreaming too big? or should i just look for a running comanche with a 4.0L already in it?
thanks for any help
