33s no lft? No problem.

and yes, i know i said nice start in a previous post. but that was before it was on all fours. i think it's the combination of 33x12.50 wide tires, deeper backspacing than stock and wheel spacers.

I think the whole no lift or minimal lift and 33's is a GREAT Idea...there is alot of room to cut and fold on these things. The only thing I would see being a problem is ground clearance, departure angles, and approach angles. which will only make you pick better lines in the trails and become, in a sense, a better driver. I have driven stockers, budget boosted, and lifted heeps on local trails and other than the problems listed above, the stocker will go anywhere a lifted one will.

Me personally, I dont like the wheel and spacer combo...but it's like "hey use what's cheap." The combo is a bad idea because it puts a lot of strain on the outer axle components.

keep up the good work...go wheelin with us..ttyl

Man don't give me that. Wheel spacers and all this other crap cost almost as much as you can find a cheap used lift for. Which the good thing is he can still opt for a lift at any time. Personally, I think anything less than 4" of lift with 33's requires some serious gutting. I just butt raped my fenders yesterday inside and out to run 33's with 4.5" lift and and am still tucking the tires deep into my fender and getting some rub spots.

me too but the concept of no lift, huge bumpstops, and massive tires is cool...not saying thats my first choice for vehicle set up but it sure is a fun concept.

Yes he could have spent the same money on wheels, as he did on his spacers, that were the original bolt pattern but what fun is that. you live you learn.

building on a budget is always about buying something to get the rig running and making it work when it shouldn't. not everyone has the money for lift, tires and wheels, lockers, and protection...right off the bat. thats why you buy stuff cheap and build your jeep around it.

Plus when you go by the live and learn motto...it gives you a chance to learn your jeep inside and out...replace stuff when it breaks, figure out why it broke, and build it better and stronger...

AS long as he has all the major stuff and safety equipment installed than what difference does it make if the crossmember sits 16" or 48" off the ground.

Let him have fun and build his Jeep the way he wants and quit bashing him bc its not exactly like yours or that guy's thats just like yours...

Rant Complete... Thanks

While it is a good idea and is very budget minded those tires won't do Jack on a trail! Upgrade them and it should be OK!

But in that sense, it also will not jack up the trail like an aggressive M/T will !!!1

True but you'll also have a harder time on said trail with a street tire. Now maybe a really aggressive All-terrain if that make sense would be better.

Redbird #21 -

Mud tire....the more aggressive the better.

Just ask Josh about that. He had a hell of a time getting traction on street tires.

I like the concept too, but I could have done a small budget lift with similar cost & the same or less effort you are going through doing that, and it would look and function better. It looks alot like those offroaders they are building in hawai now.

Wow I really need to update.

OK FIRST OFF..... The spacers and the Wheels were free they have been in my garage for years. The wheels were free taken off an old friend's Dodge when he switched to thornturds and the spacers were a gift from a buddy to make them fit on the first xj I owned.

I could wheel it as is.... minus the fact its' not street legal w/o the front clip. but it will rub like hell, I don't really mind that though.

I think it will eventually make it's way onto about 3.5 - 4" of lift.

This project has gone south though. I'm in the middle of installing the Novak industries shift conversion after the discovery that even though I shifted into 4wheel with the handle it wasn't going into 4wheel at the case. The linkage was garbage and it didn't make sense replacing it with more garbage.

Saturday I'm heading to Rockford for a 96' Ford 8.8 with discs, then I'm gonna visit SpongeBob for his 15x10 steel wheels so I can ditch the spacers.

The interior is gutted.... Anyone know where I can find some 18 gauge sheet metal to fix my floor panels in the Springfield Il, area?

I'm looking at Ruff stuff for my 8.8 installation parts.

I'll post pics soon

Ideally I want it to be around 3.5 - 4" with Rockkrawler long arms, and shackle relocation brackets.

That's where I'm heading right now. The long arms are seriously the most expensive part of this build though and has got me held up at the time being.

The tires will definitely be replaced.... Just can't decide if I should stay with 33s or move to 35s, but that again depends on when it gets lifted.

Right now I like the idea of locking it with some Aussies and picking up 33" KM2s.
