Can I fit 31x10.50's on stock 15x7 5 spoke alloys?

I am getting a set of Perelli's for free with about 75% tread left.

A buddy of mine got a set of free Duellers for his rig and was going to throw out the Perelli's.

I jumped at the opportunity. The only problem is my heep is stock, no lift.

The tires will fit the rims with no problem. You can drive it on the street with no problem except that on sharp turns the tires will rub on the lower control arms. You lose about 1/4 turn of the steering wheel in each direction. I've been living with it, but if it's too annoying you can shim the stops on the steering knuckles to compensate.

It's also okya for light off-roading if you don't disconnect the sway bars. There may be slight rubbing on the inner fender liners in front at full compression if you disconnect, but probably nothing to worry about. The bigger problem with rubbing at full compression would be in the rear, especially on a '89 (new body style). You will probably find that you need to extend the rear bump stops, or go to a dealer and buy the taller Up Country bump stops.

Yes, those tires will fit on the stock 15x7 rims ...

No, they will not fit properly on a "stock" XJ ...

The largest tires you can fit on a "stock" XJ are 30x9.50's.

When mine was stock ... I had a tire shop mount 31's on those same 15x7 alloys... and then set it down on the suspension ... they're just too tight under the tubs. You can try them, but I think you'll find the front tires will probably rub the inner/outer well when turning into driveways, etc.
